With all the talk lately, I'm interested to know where folks stand right now. If the election were held today, how would you vote? I'm including Bush so his supporters can take part, but I'm not including undecided. Too easy an out.

    And Clark is at 100%!!!
Man, I'm wondering if he's ever going to get the political stuff figured out. I don't get the "creepy" description that's been used and I think he's an extremely intelligent fellow who would make an excellent President. But I also think he should have jumped in much sooner. He's had such a steep political learning curve that I'm not sure he's going to get the chance to run against Bush, who, in my opinion, he'd trounce. It's still early, but it's getting later all the time.

I voted Kerry, but it was a very difficult choice. I could just have easily voted Edwards. I find it very difficult to decide which of the two has a better chance of beating Bush, but I think they both have an excellent chance. Kerry's veteran stuff versus Edwards' Two Americas stuff (which really is genius). I hope it's a choice we won't have to make. They're a dream ticket together. Still holding out hope the field will get even more competitive with Dean reconnecting with his original message (the strongest of the field) and Clark fulfilling his potential as a candidate.

If JFK Jr. hadn't died in that plane crash, I wonder if he would have been in the mix. He would be 43 right now (the same age his dad was when he was elected).

Well, that's where I'm at. I was prepared to go with Dean when the "inevitability thing" was riding high, but now, he's slipped to 4th in the rimrocker poll. I'm looking at Clark, Edwards, and Kerry and could easily support any of the three, though in my mind, each one has large question marks and I'm not completely comfortable with any of them yet.

For Clark, I want more ease with domestic issues and it would help if he blinked occasionally. I also don't think he yet has a sufficient "feel" for politics, though I see a little of that coming through. Kerry needs to show spark and he needs to compete well on a multiple primary day. From Edwards, I want to see more, i don't know, heft I guess. I know this is superficial, but it would help him immesasurably if he looked older.

(Mrs. rimrocker has no such qualms and is going all in with Clark... she's even a Clark Precinct Captain for the Caucus on 2/3.)

Electability is the main criterion... if I disagree with certain positions, I can volunteer or work for interest groups that can address those concerns... but I only have one shot at getting Bush out.

rimrocker: Did you vote Clark in the poll then? No undecideds. Trying to get a snapshot of preference as of today.

I agree with your assessment of the current field and what they each need to do to lock it up. Have you seen Edwards' stump speech lately? I'm far less concerned about his gravitas than I had been.

Right now, I think the rimrocker polling numbers are:

    Edwards/30
    Clark/30
    Kerry/25
    undecided/15

    I know that's a cop-out, but I really don't know who I'd pull a lever for right now.

I agree Edwards is doing well and looking good. Still, I want to see more of everything. And I want him to do something that shows me he has grace under pressure.

What I'd really like to see is a true debate without stupid set-up questions and without Joe, Al, and Dennis taking up time.

Maybe an "Anyone but Bush" slot would have been appropriate.

That's how I'm voting. I don't care if Dolemite Jones from the Pimps N' Hos Party is running - if he's running against Bush, he's getting my vote.

But I voted Dean in this poll. Because I think he, along with Kerry, has a realistic chance of removing the Bush Administration from their self-appointed positions.

    Also because of YEEEEEEEEEARRRRRRRRH!

    Fair enough.

    My polling numbers are:

    Kerry 30
    Edwards 30
    Dean 15
    Clark 15
    Undecided 10

But I pretended the election was today and made the tough choice for Kerry.

    Damn straight.
I wish those guys would give up the hunt after New Hampshire and let the 4 that we're apparently stuck with picking from show us what they really have.

I almost typed 3... in my mind I've written Dean off, I guess. I don't see how he can recover from his Iowa stumble. Not from his finish, but from his concession speech.

I voted for Kucinich. With Dean fading, and being attacked for breaking with the bil-parisan war fever, (very unfairly I think), I said what the hell why not vote o cc.net for the guy whose politics are closest to mine. Never mind, that Lieberman ,Dennis is a bit of a dork.

Otherwise Kerry. After all he is a Gore clone in many ways and Gore was better than Dubya. Sometimes I, too, feel if nobody else give a sh t about Bush' s lies, killing Iraqis, or the poor working class "volunteers" in our army, why should I. Just cause it is still good sport to kill Iraqis and occupy third world countries, that is no reason to screw most of the US population, too.

I voted for Edwards in this poll. I am not affiliated with any party. In fact I voted for Bush in 2000. I vote based on how I feel about a candidate like most people...I know not the best way to choose a President. I am moving this summer possibly to Louisiana known as the last Democratic stronghold in the South. Bush won the state in 2000. Hopefully Edwards or Clark can carry it in November. I could maintain my TX residency but screw it since we all know Bush is a 99.9% lock here.

Kucinich. Easy choice. He's the only candidate who's not a phony, a flopper or a liar. Most are all three, and then some.

Even though I'm undecided I still voted for Dean.

He's still the one guy who at the beginning was correct about Iraq. He said we don't go into Iraq unless we know. It turned out that everyone else was wrong and Howard Dean was correct. There were no WMD, there was no Al Qaeda, there was no threat.

I know he's slipped lately but here's a guy who had the wisdom then to see what many of us has found out now, and that's the kind of guy I want as president.

But I don't see those favoring Bush explaining their reasons.
