If not Joe Biden*, then who? She might be the next best option for the Democrats in 2024.

The Democrats did not really want to go with Joe* in 2020, but once the primaries got started, it became clear that he and Kamala* were the best candidates for President they could muster. Nothing substantial appears to have changed on that matters between then and now.

If Joe* does not run, and there is a significant possibility that he will not, then Kamala* would clearly be the frontrunner. She would lose for sure. Maybe Nancy Pelosi would be more competitive.
