Just went to see Carter speak. Interesting stuff. He seems like a really good guy, and he has done what he thinks is right throughout his life. I disagreed with everything he said... but that was to be expected. I did find his commentary about Cuba interesting information. He said that Cuba has the best health care system in the world, etc. I didnt know that. Maybe after Castro dies, we can have a normal diplomatic relationship with Cuba. He discussed the Iraq situation, analyzed it incorrectly, insulted President Bush several times... to the apparent delight of many of the students and faculty. Haha. Although I did find it funny that there was almost complete silence when he advocated the Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank. Haha. Guess the Jewish students didn't appreciate that. Anyway, it was interesting to see him argue many of the things posters on this board have been arguingly intensely for the past several days especially.
cuba has the best health care? lol. I'll take Canada over a swampy 8 hour wait. Then again, you have to hang out with Canadians in Canada. I guess I get the jist, though. We lost health care a few mos ago as my wife got funding through school (funding, no insurance thanks). It's super sweet paying $225+ a mo for the two of us; when we never get sick. "Using the whole fist doc?" I guess it beats the alternative of being one of the millions of uncovered Americans.... I guess.
Nomar -- I'm really impressed you took the time to go listen to someone of an opposing ideological view. That's not something most people (liberal or conservative) like to do.
Reminds me of the time I went to listen to Ron Paul speak at a SWT College Republicans meeting. I left thinking the same thing they all did: What the **** was that?
Nomar, Don't listen to Mrs. Jeff....she's patting you on the head and scratching your ear to soften you up with her amazingly agreeable manner as a means to brainwash you to do tricks for her, like pull a voting machine leever. btw: I love cats!! I want more.
PornoMan - He said that there was a doctor for every 160 Cuban citizens, whereas in America, there is a doctor for every 600 Americans. Or some statistic to that effect. He also said that Castro sends Cuban doctors to very poor and sick areas of the world. And that many aspiring medical students from all areas of the world go to study at some of the Cuban medical colleges. And plus, no filthy HMO's to deal with. Mrs. B - I even have two tests to study for tonight! I chose Carter over a night of binge drinking and club one tweezy! You should be doubly proud of me. haha. heypartner - Don't worry. I'm a republican to the bone.

Originally posted by Nomar heypartner - Don't worry. I'm a republican to the bone.
Well....that's why I'm warning you about Mrs Jeff. She just might tease you with a bi-partisan Iraqi bone, and get you lapping at her, then she tosses it into the lake and says, "fetch boy...go jump into the lake."
I've never tossed off! I've never tossed off! This is why those godless commie atheists annoy me. They apparently think that they have to do moral things in this lifetime. I like the idea of no HMOs... and cuba is pretttttay. Maybe we can start visiting after governor body takes some names.
Wow you took time to go in person to hear a speaker you disagree with, but TJ, won't even bother to read posts of someone he disagrees with. TJ, Maybe you were just kidding, I don't know. But if you weren't, come on man, listen to both sides, then you'll have more opportunities to close more cases.
I respectfully disagree (don't go there Batman) with you Mrs.JB, I show up here quite regularly. Yeah, I know reading is not listening.
I think this confirms that FranchiseBlade often has trouble following a simple train a thought in a thread.
