Reaons why Houston is a desirable team to coach---the possibility of having a star point guard and center for years to come. Reasons why not: Potentially, will be a soft team for years to come. Potentially, revolves around a point guard who will never have the mental capabilities to make his team strong enough to go all the way. Possibly a team full of only one player- Yao Ming- who has enough respect to listen and follow instructions-even when he believes he has the individual talent to overcome the situation- he will always follow the coaches decision and system. Possibly the future will prove that Steve will not accept that Yao is the man on this team and will never allow Yao to progress to the player that takes over. Sure Steve can take over sometimes as well and I don't believe it will always be Yao who dominates but it must start inside and players must work to help him. Potentially a old and out of touch management to deal with. CD has made some very awful moves in the past years and this whole coaching debunkle could very well prophesy the future of this organization. CD is no longer the talent evaluator we all respected him so highly as. He has definitely backed us into a corner with the crummy contracts he has handicapped us with. CD should have gone with Rudy-case closed-we could have possibly had Larry Brown right now- but maybe not- he may not have wanted to deal with all of our horrible contract situations as well. But I don't blame CD as much as I blame Les for not reacting quicker. It seems the reprocussions of not acting quicker may in the end be the thing that hurts this franchise the most. So full blame must lay on Les A's shoulders. Hey Les you've pulled off some wishful thinking moves for this organization, but with CD still there 9 out of 10 times a Pippen trade is more likely than a Drexler. Perhaps CD and Les A's belief in his out of touch GM may handicap another coach as well. I am a huge rockets fan and I think that the FRanchise and Dynasty could potentially rise to the occasion and carry us back to a respectable team in the NBA, but I see the evidence for potential failure before I see potential championship. That's the problem with todays NBA, it has alot of potential superstars but most of them never live up to it and sustain it. That makes every coaches job potentially a nightmare. Carlisle is personally my coach of choice--now that I hear he will be talking to the Clippers I believe even more that job as sad as it may seem has more poential to offer than ours. Now that's scary but true. Kandiman?,Brand?,Odom?,McINNis,Miller? Now I don't know what their team is going to end up looking like but I see why he would potentially lean towards a team other than ours. I can also see why the Rockets is perhaps not the most desirable team to coach. I hope any of you can make me feel differently. I have a strong feeling that the coaches we have to choose from will in essence symbolize the future to come. All of them were good enough to get pretty far but never good enough to win it all. I want to win it all!Eventually just the playoffs will not be good enough. Ya snooze ya lose Les, but what can I say--it's your team, I'm just a faithful customer.
Here lies the krux of the Rockets. If Steve moves to the two Guard then he is at the mercy of the new Point Guard. If the Coach gives instruction to pass to the Center whenever possible, Steve will have to submit or he wont be playing the Team Game like last season. I am glad someone beside myself sees this clash.
