I made another trip back to Wherehouse Music today (60 to 80% off now!), and I saw a CD that made me laugh. It reminded me of one of the most WRONG predictions I've ever made . . .

Sisquo will be the next Michael Jackson

OMG how could I have been so stupid!!??!?? I mean, I can't even begin to say what a dumb prediction that was!! I wouldn't know what to start with first, the fact that Sisquo was a one-hit wonder or that no one will ever be "the next Michael Jackson"!!!

    Others wrong ones:

Adam Everett will be able to hit well enough to make it in the big leagues
Rodrick Rhodes will stick in the NBA and be a decent player
Daryl Ward will be a good MLB player

I'm sure there are lots more, but this is all I've come up with so far. What about those on the BBS? What predictions have you made that were completely wrong, and/or moronic?

You thought Sisquo had talent? My God, I knew from the get go that he was a fluke, a flash in the pan. I still think Britney has peaked as a singer but will remain popular somehow.

    My bad predictions?

Rockets will make it to the first round of the playoffs.

Ray McCallum will turn the UH basketball program around.

Daniel Day-Lewis will win the Oscar for best actor.

Boyz II Men would be making hits for the next 20 years

Well, to be fair, the only Sisquo song I'd heard at the time was "Thong Song", and I had just watched a music video that had him dancing (it wasn't the normal Thong Song video, it was a different one). Sisquo may be a crappy hip hop artist, but that man can DANCE.

One of the Lord of the Rings movies would win the best picture oscar. So far, 0 of 2, with losses to A Beautiful Mind and Chicago. Here's a thought, maybe one criteria for best movie should be that it is entertaining.

In the sixth or seventh grade I made the statement that Madonna was a flash in the pan, but real talent like Cindy Lauper will last forever. Damn I was/am a dumbass.:(

I believed whole-heartedly the Raiders would mount a fierce rally after halftime and win the super bowl :(

That a 17 point lead for my Cowboys would be too much for Syracuse to overcome and we'd beat them to go to the Sweet 16... :(

You can't feel too badly about that one though -- the dreamcast rules! It was ahead of its time for console graphics, and it has some of the very best console games around. I picked one up last year when they were $49 a piece. That's been one of the best purchases I"ve ever made. I have spent countless hours playing Shenmue, NBA 2k3, Soul Calibur, etc.

Yeah, but for the most part, sisquo did very little other than Thong Song. He did have another good song off that album (don't remember what it was), and he guested on a song or two, but they were never really all that big. Certainly he's no MJ . . .

Same prediction here. Wait until next year, though. :D

Some wrong predictions of my own:

By 2004, Australia will be one of the top 5 basketball nations. Seriously, at one time we were looking very promising.

Eddie Griffin will put up 14pts and at least 8 boards this season. He will also shoot much better.

I think Sisqo's other song, "Incomplete," made number one on billboard.

Don't worry, he'll be back. He's working with Dru Hill right now but he'll have another hit soon enough.

I thought Neo-Geo was going to be the biggest thing in video game systems since the original 8-bit Nintendo.

My fellow Commodore Dan Langhi would be the next Matt Bullard.
