I'm leaning towards OSU, but not as much as before they got stomped by OU. Hard to tell how they'll respond. Let's see some predictions. What's the over/under for this game?
Man, I have a bad feeling about his one. I don't like the fact that OSU is coming off a bad loss. They should be pretty salty... OSU's defense hasn't looked real good this year. Texas should be able to move the ball at will if Mack and company don't keep running QB draws and/or 5 yard hook routes the whole game.
OSU-28 UT-45 I think last week was probably Mack Brown's best coached game in his career at UT. I can't see too big a letdown after that.
OSU gave UT a great game last year in Austin. I think this is really a toss-up. Texas is listed as a 3 point favorite. OSU's offense has looked very good with the exception of the OU game last week.
Close game could go either way. I'm also leaning towards OSU playing on their home field at night in the cold and coming off an embarrassing loss to their arch rival. Hopefully Fiesta Bowl talk hasn't reached the UT locker room.
Few things need to be addressed here. The OSU defense lost several key players on defense last week during Bedlam. As such, they're forced into playing some 3rd stringers and true freshmen such as Xavier Lawson Kennedy and Brad Girtman on D this Saturday. Vince will get his 150+ rushing yards, and look for more power running from Ced to open up the play action. Nobody on their squad (or the nation) can cover Roy in man so look for VY and Mock to exploit that matchup. If they double Roy, Scaife and BJ will see some passes thrown their way too. They've got tremendous skill players in Tatum Bell and Rashaun Woods, and a serviceable QB in Josh Fields. OSU has a nice balanced offense, which should be able to rack up some points on the Longhorn D. However, if the D-line dominates like it did last week with our front 4 kicking the O-line's ass, OSU will be in for a long day. Our secondary has been a weak spot this season so it would be nice for them to make some big plays this week. The Horns are too deep and talented, and no amount of bad coaching will overcome that.
I wouldn't be surprised if OSU beat them, but it still will not prevent me from rooting for my beloved alma mater. Doesn't matter either way...I have a gig Saturday night so I will be relegated to watching the highlights after I get home around 2:30 AM.
Fiesta Bowl officials were in Austin last Saturday, and liked what they saw out of Texas. They said they'd like to take a Big 12 team for an at-large spot if they can win out. Said OSU and Texas are both good candidates for the spot, setting up a possible matchup with the SEC Champ or the Big East Champ. And, yes, there's been BCS talk all over town this week.
UT plays better when their backs are against the wall. I don't like this "if we win out" talk. Watch us get bit in the ass by OSU or Tech. A&M is just too pathetic (my apologies to Refman and DCkid).
Maybe I should turn on that pathetic excuse for sports talk radio you have here in Austin while I'm in town. Nevermind, I'd rather stick a screwdriver in my ear.
I think we lose. Sort of hope we do. I know I'll end up rooting for UT, but in the long run, is it really in our best interest to win out?
When Texas broke the Nebraska home game winning streak, that was the best game I've seen Texas play under Brown. Texas also played pretty well against Kansas St last year, and if I think further I can think of some other ones. Nebraska wasn't that good this year.
I think OSU will be tough, but I think UT will pull it out...It's Vincent's time to shine and I can see it happening in Stillwater... Horns 45 OSU 42
Does everyone forget that we were one game away from a National Title shot until a certain quarterback threw the game away. I think Mack deserves more time, especially considering where Texas was before he got there.
The line is set at 62 and in some cases 62.5. That's a huge number for college football (provided Texas Tech is not a participant).
The talking heads on 1300 The Zone are terrible. First of all there's Bucky and Aaron on the morning show, who tell the same jokes every morning. Then there's the afternoon show with Craig Way, a hired gun from UT. Then finally there's the late afternoon show with Kevin Dunn, Brian Jones, and some other tool. This is the worst of them all. The day before the Nebraska game they were talking about some stupid NFL game like Miami-Indianapolis or something.
