Eventually, Yao will beat Shaq and have all the honors. Look out!

    ROY? i agree

    All Star? quite possibly

MVP? Not so sure about that. I think we would need to win the division this year for that to happen. Even then, Stevie would get a ton of votes as well.

If Yao keeps up this pace, its pretty obvious he'll be ROY. He'll be an allstar because of all the Chinese votes(plus a lot of Rox fans votes ;) ).

Hmmm, MVP. When I try to think of who else is playing better, I have trouble saying so and so is a LOT more deserving than Yao. Duncan? Yao killed him and DRob. Shaq? Jury's still out. T-mac? Kobe? T-mac has been called lazy by his teamates AND coach. Despite KB's numbers, his team was horrible without shark. Kidd? Iverson...just kidding.

Yao plays team ball, dominates the paint, shoots a high percentage, and improves every game against his opponents. At the end of the season, if the Rox make it to the semi-finals, and he's averaging about 18/11/3/3, he'll definately be considered.

MVP? Yao is real good, but please don't confuse your dream with reality.

I doubt Yao would get more fan votes than Shaq, but I think he would be voted in by the coaches if he keeps this pace. Shaq may be having a bad year but he still has the name Shaq, which is quite possibly the most recognizable in the league.

i agree "Eventually", but not "this year". for now, ROY and ALL-STAR are pretty amazing, considering YAO didn't play college bball, wasn't at summer camp...

I think Yao will be an honorary "born in the USA, 35 year old American citizen."

Then he'll become our first ever elected "independent" president in 2004.

I will be very happy if he gets ROY. He won't be MVP this season, that's for sure.

all star? mvp? roy? why u guys pay so much attention for that? It doesnot matter to me at all. As long as ming can improve well. prove he is the most valueable player in court. It is shame for the haters who didnot vote him.
Trust me or not, the statistics sucks. Image a extrem case, say player A being surounded by all five players in opionet team whereever /whenever he get the ball. the guy may score zero, rebound zero, he may even assist zero. But when the question raise up who is the MVP in that game, U NAME IT!

I can see him getting Rookie of the Year because he is getting the most media attention out of any rookie and is seen as a leader or co-leader on the Rockets byt the media. I can see Yao being an All-Star because voting will end before he hits the "Rookie Wall" and in the west, only Shaq and Tim Duncan would be his competition and I can see all 3 of them getting on the team.

MVP is not going to happen this year. I don't think a rookie has ever won MVP and that honor is reserved for players who take their team to a nice playoff seed. I can see him getting MVP down the line, but that is alot to ask. The Rockets are going to have to really play very well down the stretch for that to happen.

Zero chance for MVP but ROY and an All-Star game are certainly possible.

RoY? Definitely the lead candidate now and absent plunge in performance or injury, should be a good lock.

All-Star? Perhaps and decent chance with Yaomania in Houston, Asia, etc. and people tired of Shaq not showing up.

MVP? Only if Houston gets into and really challenge at the Western Conference finals. Even then maybe. I wouldn't say it's ridiculous though, but highly unlikely.
