What do you mean... all-time? Or best player on this team?

I wasn't a rockets fan during the hakeem days. So my question to those of you who are is this:

If tracy and yao brings two championships to houston, would they have the same place in your hearts as hakeem was/is?

tracy will never be as big as hakeem or yao. those 2 were drafted by houston and will play (for yao) their entire careers in houston. fran blinebury brought this up once.

however, had tracy win a few rings in orlando, he would be the face forever in orlando.

hakeem is probably the best center of all time on both sides of the court, at least he is the most underrated center of all time in the eyes of others outside of houston. It'll be hard for Yao or Tracy to take over the spot of the best rocket, but if they bring a dynasty than that could change. I see Yao peaking more but Tracy peaked already or at his peak, so to me Yao might be able to do it, but he'll have to at least bring 2 championship to the rockets.

obviously i meant it moreso for yao than tracy, but i was trying to not turn this into a hakeem vs. yao thing. :p

i'm not either. if yao wins a fwe rings, him and hakeem would be around the same in houston's bball history.

but if yao wins more than 2, now i dont know. yao will continue to progress and become more dominant for 4-5 more yrs in his prime so his career could be great. so more rings favor yao. if not hakeem.

as of now though, it's all hakeem. top 5 center of all time.

I don't buy it. Tracy will earn his place in Rockets' history if he takes the centural role in a Rockets dynasty. Had Shaq stayed a Laker, he would have challenged Magic's place in their history, along with Kareem and Kobe, even though he was once in a Magic uniform.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Yao will never be as good as Hakeem was.

man let's think about winning first round first. when we get past the 2nd round, THEN we can think about it.

tracy has a lot to prove this yr. A LOT. not only to houston, but to all basketbal lfans who doubt him, which is basically everybody.

No it's not. This is a hypothetical question. It said "prediction".

I would have agreed with you two seasons ago, and I still voted Hakeem myself. However, now after seeing how good this new trio are, asking for a prediction is legitmate.

To be fair, its too early to say. But obviously the answer is Hakeem.

It's a stupid question. You might as well include Vspan in their if it's just a prediction. Yao and Tracy are arguably 2 of the top 10 best players in the league right now. Hakeem was one of the 10 greatest players ever. Your asking to predict the future. If it is just a prediction why not ask will Yao ever be as great as Hakeem.

hakeem is a top 5 center of all time

tmac can be a top 5 SG/SF of all time if he wins a few rings. i mean who do u put ahead of him? mj, west, kobe, iverson (but if he wins rings, he'll be ahead of AI) if more, even kobe.

yao, its harder for him to crack top 5 b/c top 4 can't be passed (chamberlain, jabbar, russell, shaq), hakeem is #5. so it's gonna be tough for yao.

Hakeem made defenders look silly, he rebounded well, and damn did he block shots!!! The guy did it all and was so much fun to watch...

Tracy... he is already past his prime, in his Orlando days I would say he was the best offensive player in the league, by far... I remember those days where he him Kobe were matching 50 point games one after the other, don't think T-mac has it in him to go off like that even if he tried. This guy used to make players eat his dust, he would blow by his defender without any contact, now he uses his arm to hold players off. He's developed a passing game…but his fall off since his Orlando days is just to great to be considered the best Rocket…plus he's always injured…

Yao - problem with him is he's slow...he plays more mechanical, where Hakeem was fluid, it was like he had a natural talent for the game….with Yao you can tell he has worked hard to get where he has…

    Hakeem wins easy.

    yup you're right.

chamberlain, jordan, jabbar, magic, bird, west, shaq, russell, duncan, hakeem is right at around #10.

but cmon, hakeem's career is done. tmac and yao still have 5-6 yrs to carve their legacy.
