Just curious what everyone else thinks. I was concerned about making it out of this four-game stretch with only one loss before today; now, I'm actually entertaining the thought of "0-4". It doesn't seem likely but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility out of hand.

I think the most likely scenario is a loss at Kansas State this week, followed by wins over Iowa State and Nebraska. Following that, I think we can handle everyone else on our schedule, with one surprising exception:

    Texas A&M.

I have a feeling that we're way, way, way too complacent in regards to the Aggies. After beating them two years in a row, I worry that we'll be lackadaisacal that week, and while we do have more talent than A&M, I think their offense can throw enough wrinkles at us to pull the upset.

I mean, they could conceivably run the wraparound draw every single play and move the ball on us. I wouldn't have thought that before today, but OU has made me a believer. Find something you do well, and execute it until Texas proves it can make an adjustment and stop it. Washington did that with Jerrame Stevens last year, and after watching them drive up and down the field for the better part of three quarters, we finally adjusted and switched a safety onto him.

We had no such luck with OU today. If A&M was paying attention, and God knows Baylor wasn't occupying their thoughts much, I think we're in for a setback this T+1.

Anyway, my prediction is 9-3 in the regular season, with an Alamo Bowl bid against Wisconsin. We'll beat Wisconsin and finish jusssst in the Top Ten, leading Mack Brown to proclaim the season a success.

Anyone else? You don't have to ramble on and on-- simple predictions are welcome too.

A&M is somewhat losable, in the sense that I think their defense can keep it close for them ala last year.

If A&M doesn't have any TO's, then they really could threaten. Special teams will need to step up for A&M.

KSU is iffy. I think KSU is 50/50.

I'm gonna wait until after KSU. I wouldn't be surprised if we went 11-1 or 9-3 going into the bowl.

    My prediction:

UT wins the coin toss and elects to receive the ball. On the first play of the game Christina Simms rolls right and is forced to scramble for a first down on the sideline. Just as he steps out of bounds his high heeled cleated shoe wiill break off and he will let out a gut wrenching scream. Cedric Benson will rush over to him and beat the crap out of him and Chance Mock will be forced into the game. He will throw 11 touchdown passes in a row. And they will go on to win the chapmionship in Tempe or whereever it is.

My gut tells me we lose to KSU - I thought that regardless of OU. They'll mess with Simms' mind with their pressing defense. Our offense will suck as usual. I also want to say we'll lose to ISU, but I don't see us losing 3 in a row. I don't see us losing to Nebraska, A&M, or Tech though.

KSU also has had UT's number since the Big 12 formed... They were the one team who had an answer for Ricky.

Damn after the OU game, I was so down I thought the only game we'd win was Baylor.

After hearing some of the players post-game, I don't really know what to think. NO matter what, if the "system" being run continues to remain unchanged, we aren't going very far.

You know we have the talent to not lose another regular season game, but I don't think I could predict anything until I see the KSU game. They whupped OSU, and they might do the same to us unless we get our acts together. If we do though, we would gain a ton of confidence and...

So yeah, uh, I have no idea...

i reserve judgement until after the K-State game, which I think we will eek out a victory... Mack Brown has to see the OU game as a wake-up call (especially after all of the negative feedback he is sure to receive)

I wish this game could serve as a wake-up call - but I don't believe that.

There have been so many wake up calls over the past 4 years, I just don't know - Mack Brown is a good coach, but he has too much loyalty to Greg Davis. Loyalty is an admirable trait, but sometimes it can go too far.

As for the record . . . 50/50 on the K-State game, I don't see any other team being able to beat us though. And we'll probably win our bowl game, and finish in the top 5 or so.

Will the OU fans be saying "Keep Mack" like how the UT fans say "Keep RC"?

Overall 2-2, wins over KSU and Nebraska.

Imagine the possibilities if ISU beats both OU and Texas in the next two weeks. If that doesn't vault them well into the top 5, I don't know what would.

If FSU had beaten Miami, ISU's quality win points and SOS for FSU would have been vital.

    Dammit, we shoulda won!!

    Mack is 3-1 vs. RC

    Stoops is 3-1 vs. Mack

I'm going to give Mack one year without Simms before I start to hate him. I don't think Texas fans have unreasonable expectations. First the excuse was "I don't have my players". Second the excuse was "We are too young". Third the excuse was "We didn't establish the run". What is it this year? I'm pissed DeLoss would tell the AAS that Mack doesn't need to beat OU.

I think I have a somewhat unique perspective on this situation. I was born in Columbus, OH, and my parents are Ohio State alumni, so I grew up rooting for Ohio State. I've never stopped loving OSU even though I would say my primary rooting interest is with my alma mater.

And I can tell you right now, if you think we can be successful and happy winning 90 percent of our games but losing to OU every year, you're nuts.

OSU was one of the five best programs in the country from 1993 through 1998, and believe me, the constant and repeated losses to Michigan ruined many of those seasons.

It's a slightly different animal, because UT-OU takes place early and OSU-UM is the last game of the regular season for those two teams, so a defeat is far more likely to ruin a season.

But it's not "OK" if Mack Brown loses to OU every year, and DeLoss Dodds can suck my burnt-orange Texas Ex **** if he thinks it is. He does have to beat OU, the same way he has to win 75-80 percent of his games and beat Texas A&M and win conference titles and graduate his players. It's part of the job requirement, and if Kansas State alumnus Dodds doesn't get that, he needs to step the **** down.

BK- Definetely true. Great recruiters put players in the NFL, great coaches recruit good players, but they recruit players who can work within their system, not necesarily the best player availalble.

I feel for you UT fans. I was rooting for you, I wanted you to win because OK has a much easier path to the Championship than if UT would have won. See how the rest of the season goes. Your season is not over but you have to win out and finsih strong. This is a test of the character of your team and coaches.

You should send him that as an e-mail. Well-stated. I'm sure he's been hearing plenty of exes calling for Davis's head though...

Yeah, but there's a very overrated Notre Dame team coming into town in two weeks, a team that will not leave Tallahassee undefeated. Better to look forward instead of at the past, i.e. beating Notre Dame instead of Miami associates taunting Beitia on the field after the kick.

FSU can still make it high in the rankings...but I know every FSU fan out there is cheering for Iowa State. They gave us a heck of a game and are proving to be a force in the Big 12 this year. The big tests come in the next two weeks, and if they can manage to beat OU and Texas, they have to be discussed as serious national title contenders.

ISU will have played a hellacious schedule by the end of the season and will play a key role in shaping the national title picture. I don't think FSU's loss back in August to them is looking all that bad about now, to tell the truth.
