I predict that Les will call Rudy in to his office and tell him this:

"Rudy, this was a terrible year, and the job that your staff did was less then adequate. To not be in the playoffs with the talent assembled on your team is inexcusable. Then to see us trade KT for Posey, and watch KT flourish under a better system has made it clear that you are not tough enough on the players."

"Here is what we are going to do, you are going to get one more year, and during that year if you fail to lead the team to the playoffs you are done. Also, the team needs to play cohesively and in a solid system, if you are not tougher on your players and more forecful, you are done. "

"The key Rudy, is to be more of a disciplinarian, if you can not do that, we can move you up into another spot in the organization, becuase frankly Rudy, you and your staff sucked this year."

"You are on double secret probation."

Heh...well Les should do that. He should. He better. Tell him our offense is horrible to watch.

I think it's going to be a half force-out situation, and a half stepping-down situation.

That's what I think will happen. No Playoffs 2004 = it's been real, and it's been nice but it ain't been real nice. :)

    Rudy back to Les:

"Ahhh . . . the guys play with so much heart. I love the effort I am seeing out there. We're still young and developing. The guys have responded to the adversity and are hanging in there. They play with so much heart. I love the effort I'm seeing out there. Also, they're playing with so much heart. Their heart is young and developing. Their effort against their youth and adversity shows so much heart. Heart. Heart. Adversity. Ahhh. I love the effort and heart I'm seeing despite all the adversity. Never underestimate being in the heart of adversity."

Rudy's monologue continues . . . "Les, I now understand what's important in life. Heart, adversity, sunshine and roses. You have to have heart to withstand the sunshine, so that you can tend to your roses in times of adversity. And roses don't grow without effort. Never underestimate the effort required to grow roses. Heart. Heart. Ummm. Did I mention heart"

Les back to Rudy: "Rudy I hear you, but what are you prepared to do to improve the team's play?"

"Well, I really like the effort I'm seeing from the guys. Sometimes, the offense does not flow. Sometimes, the shots don't fall. Sometimes, the guys play like dumbasses. But they play with so much heart. I'm going to work up new plays where francis starts the pick and roll even farther back, say around the midcourt line, and then goes into isolation. It will take a lot of effort and heart to execute that play, but I love the effort I'm seeing out there.

    Rudy back to Les:

"I don't need to take ultimatums from you, you yankee ****. I'm the only Rocket left. I've sweat blood for this organization for 30 years, and delivered the ONLY success they or this city have ever had. You can take your ultimatum and shove it up your ass. I'll have another job by next week, and I'll be kicking your dumb team's ass for the next decade or so."

Chit chat, sit down, hope youre well etc... then the nut.

"Rudy, I want the team to go another way. I'm bringing in Larry Brown, to teach and discipline the players. You've meant a lot to this organization. I think you can work with him. Would you like to work with Carroll Dawson in the front office? "

"No. I think I can do it. We just need more time. This is a young team. Yao is just learning the NBA game. Next year...blah blah blah...."

"Rudy, You're fired. You have ten minutes to clean your desk. We will have the remainder of your things sent to you. The guard will show you out. Please turn in your keys."

Actually, I really think Rudy's getting 1 new assistant, one more year, and Cat, Eddie and Rice are moving. I'm not satisfied with that. I want to believe. I want to see a team that inspires fear and demands respect. No more jolly holiday playground bull$@#!; no more Barry Switzer style "coaching."

Unfortunately, I think Rudy will stay one more year. There is no way Rudy can be a disciplinarian. Its just not his personality. Asking him to be hard on his players just isn't in him

Rudy going thru the list of job prospects:

UTAH - Nah, damn Sloan's been around longer than I have...

SAS - Pop's got Duncan and a that Parker kid...he's got a lot of heart...Nope...

SAC - Man, if only Vlade was younger...he'd be like Hakeem...lots of heart...Adelman runs too many plays...Bibby and Christie don't ISO very well...who's next...

LAL - No, Phil's waiting for Shaq to retire...then Clemmon's will probably get the job...

DAL - No, looks like Donnie will be taking over for Dad Nelson

POR - Well, Cheeks played there, probably not a good prospect...

SEA - McMillan....Just like Portland, damn...too bad they re-signed Rashard and did that Allen trade...they're actually playing better without Payton...

PHX - Damn...maybe they'll be disloyal to Frank Johnson...hell we...er I beat them 3-1 this season before they went to the playoffs...

MEM - How old is Hubie again...64+...oh yea..his son is head of the scouting and probably next in line....

GSW - Musselman?....I'm better than him...is that punk 38 yet?...hell, I was probably better than his dad, too...a lot of those 603 wins were in the CBA...who's next...

DEN - I wonder how much they like that Bzdelik guy...maybe the honeymoon's over...I think I'll call Clyde...he and Kiki are tight..

MINN - alright...didn't Garnett say he'd swim to Australia to play for me...OK...I think McHale's getting sick of Flip's 1st round exits even if they did go to college together...they got a lot of heart...too bad they only get one 1st round pick in the next 4 years...wonder what's the latest on re-signing Garnett to a more reasonable contract after next season...

Hey, the East..that's it...Isiah, Carlisle and Riley are all over rated...I think I'll call Toronto first and then the Hawks.....

Well, this team need more than 1 new assistant coaches. Bring in as many assistant coaches as the Marvericks have. Bring in many college coaches because our guys skipped college or were always high in college. Rudy never taught a college team. He does not know how to insert basic bball skills and concepts into those low IQ brains.

Way to work in the Animal House reference, DD!

I personally believe Les will start the season with Rudy because of the new arena and bad publicity of firing Mr. Rocket. But if the same problems from this year come up next year (and they WILL IMHO) and we are a sub .500 team come All Star break, look out.

Are residents of the great state of Michigan considered Yankees?

    It depends.

To a Brit, we're all "Yanks". To a Midwesterner (I'm from Ohio), those from New England are "Yankees". To a Southerner, everyone above the Mason-Dixon Line is a "Yankee".

At least that's how I've always handled it. :)

One thing I am sure of and I am happy to guarrantee is that our back court will be broken up.

The dynamites have been strategically put in place - just waiting for the playoffs to end (dang you NBA-rules) in order to officially implode it and build a new refreshing one.
