I just thought it would be fun to predict the rest of the Rockets' season. The schedule seems to get much easier after January. Here is my OPTIMISTIC prediction: Tue 2 at Cleveland W Thu 4 Detroit W Sat 6 Utah W Tue 9 at Toronto L Thu 11 at New York W Sat 13 Sacramento L Mon 15 at Utah L Tue 16 Toronto W Thu 18 at Golden State W Fri 19 at L.A. Lakers L Tue 23 at Denver W Wed 24 Philadelphia W Fri 26 Vancouver W Sat 27 at Charlotte W Tue 30 Miami W FEBRUARY DATE OPPONENT Thu 1 L.A. Clippers W Sat 3 at San Antonio L Mon 5 New York W Wed 7 at Philadelphia L Thu 8 at Detroit W Tue 13 Washington W Fri 16 at Orlando L Sat 17 Cleveland W Tue 20 Boston W Wed 21 at Minnesota L Fri 23 Orlando W Mon 26 Portland L Wed 28 at Chicago W MARCH DATE OPPONENT Thu 1 at Milwaukee W Sat 3 at Dallas W Wed 7 at Atlanta W Thu 8 L.A. Clippers W Sat 10 Golden State W Sun 11 at Phoenix L Tue 13 Indiana W Thu 15 New Jersey W Sat 17 San Antonio L Tue 20 at Sacramento L Thu 22 at L.A. Clippers W Sat 24 at Seattle W Tue 27 Utah L Thu 29 Phoenix L Sat 31 at Washington W APRIL DATE OPPONENT Sun 1 at New Jersey W Tue 3 Dallas W Thu 5 Seattle L Sat 7 Atlanta W Mon 9 at Utah L Tue 10 Denver L Fri 13 at Portland L Sat 14 at Vancouver W Tue 17 Minnesota L Final Record: 47-35 Notice that most of the eastern games were wins, I believe the Rockets will dominate that conference. Most other victories came against non-playoff teams. Most of the losses came to western playoff teams. In reality, the Rockets will probably lose to a number of crappy teams, and beat a few playoff teams. 47 wins? I just don't see it. 38-41 more likely. If we get Rahim 47 is possible ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
38-41? What about the other 3 games? I think the Rockets will win at least 42, but that won't be enough for the playoffs. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I bet .500, but as you guys said, it won't be enough for making the playoffs. We are in the WEST! ------------------
I have the Rockets finnishing 45 and 37. Their schedule becomes very favorable in the near future with all the eastern conference games. Baring any serious medical problems I can't see them finishing below 500. ------------------
Maybe you should settle for hoping that you're still ahead of the Warriors in the standings by then, since GS has picked up 3 1/2 games on HOU in the past two weeks (only 4 more to go!) ------------------
I feel that the Rockets will hover around 5-10 games below .500 for a lot of the season. They will hit a small losing streak with about 20 games to go and then will go 12-3 in there last 15 games so that we will get excited about next year. They will play great once they are completely out of the playoff picture, that is how it seems to work. Walt will shoot great then, and it will all come together in the end. They will start off good again next year and then continue the cycle. They seem to play well when there is no pressure like at the beginning of the year and once they are out of the playoffs. Call it immaturity or call it lack of testicles, but all I know is being clutch is something you always are, not something you become. I hope I am wrong about all this and it will all come together soon and we will hit a big winning streak, because I can't stand watching the playoffs without them in it. But I just keep getting the feeling the Rocket's are a big tease. Just when you think you figure them out and believe everything is going to be great, you catch them at a hotel (arena) giving someone else (another team) favors. ------------------
Hey hedster, how many years do you think Hakeem, Otis, Vernon and Kenny played together before they became serious contenders. For a while it seemed every year was one big disapiontment always collapsing at some point during the season and never winning more than 47 or 48 games a year. Remember this was when the Dream was in his prime as an athlete. Then they got a couple of role players in the draft (Robert Horry and Sam Cassel) got another from Portland (Mario Elle) and things started clicking. Sometimes it takes years for the core of your tallent to learn how to play well together on a consistent basis. ------------------
I know this is the wrong forum but isn't Marc Jackson a free agent in 01? ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Look, 47 wins would be just fine by me. All I want is for them to make the playoffs, and see what happens. I believe that anything can happen once the playoffs start, so I want them to get there with any seed. 47 wins guarantees the playoffs. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I mean't 38 to 41 victories. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
I think I predicted around 45 wins before the season began and I'll stick to it. That might not be enough for the playoffs, either. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
I say 42-40 or 41-41. ------------------ "ON-BEE-TAH-BULL!!", Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon, alumnus, University of Houston
