Last year both Les and Daryl spoke about being predatory, it is now time with so many teams jettising quality NBA talent to chase very few superstar players, I think it is time for the Rockets to acquire some of that talent on the cheap. Anyone have any ideas? Should we take on Beasley, Perkins, Hinrich? Lots of talent is going to flow, do you guys think the Rox will be able to take advantage? DD
Heinhick was already traded away to the Wizards for cap space to sign two max free agents for the Bulls. They also got the Wizards 17th pick. As for the others I would really like Perkins if his knee is fine. That is the perfect Championship level ceneter or backup to Yao.
Hinrich already been traded along with #17 pick to wizards to free up salary space http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2010/news/story?id=5324240 Perkins would be a great option
A month back I made a thread about that very topic. My names thrown out were Andre Iguodala, Al Jefferson, Spencer Hawes (since traded), Jason Thompson, Thaddeus Young, Marreese Speights, Roy Hibbert, and anyone on Golden State.
I was just going to say that. The problem is we don't have the one thing those teams want. And that's cap space. You have to have room to absorb some of these throw awaaay players to be predatory. The thing that gave us an edge last year is everyone feared the luxury tax and rumors that is would fall 10-15 million. Well that didn't happen and now a lot of teams have cap space and we don't. Plus buying picks is no longer just cash. This is a loaded draft and you better bring more than just 3 millin if want to buy the 25th pick. Unless of course you have cap space and some second rounders. You see 2nd round picks don't count against the cap your cap while you are making cap room for your free agent signings. Well funny thin, we don't have either. NO CAPSPACE, NO 2ND ROUNDERS.
like i posted in the other thread...i think he's going to collect some more assets at below market value from these teams having a fire sale. Since he'll get such a good deal, as far as talent goes, he can afford to entice another team to trade a player or players they weren't considering trading by giving them very good value, maybe even slightly more than their worth.
yes houston has a pretty packed roster this year, and players like Scola and Lowry we need to extend. Chances are that Houston will trade after the 14 pick. Best player...likely to be a shooting guard...and trade for a proven big guy and there goes my first post in 4 years
I'd take Beasley but they are looking at taking no one back. Plus that would allow Miami 3 max contracts in a no state income tax state (mo money). Lebron, Wade, Bosh + ring chasers and picks would be trouble for the rest of the league. ie. It wouldn't matter what we do, they'd have the trophy for the next __ years and I imagine some pretty POd GMs to try and deal with.
lmao i luv this pic , this is all u need to post to any player personnel questions, lol too funny cuz he looks nothin like the predatory beast that gets over on unsuspecting GMs
