Thomas has a major chip on this shoulder. That is plainly evident. Personally I like that, since it's those kinds of guys who seemingly tend to live up to their potential. He reminds me of Amare in this respect.

If he falls, and we pick him up at #8, that would motivate him like crazy (like Amare and Paul Pierce). Not to mention that with the way the league is going, a SF in a PF's body could be an incredibly dynamic and effective combination.

I would love the chip on the shoulder mentality if he was more willing to prove himself in competitive workouts. The fact that he's avoiding those is a red flag for me, especially for a guy that seems so eager to show parts of his game that nobody has really seen yet.

Tyrus Thomas seems to be 250% smarter and 342% more pissed off than Stromile Swift. That's good in my book.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the whole "no competitive workouts" thing is 100% from the agent. Invariably, it's the agents who decide how these guys get showcased. And they are playing with fire because if he slips from the top teams, then he could freefall ala Gerald Green because nobody has seen him workout. So maybe someone ends up with a steal. Or not (maybe he will bust).

    That's the draft for you.

thomas sounds like he's s.u.i... speaking under the influence of his agent.

I read Thomas, Roy and Aldridge. Thomas comes off as a jerk. My gut is the guy has bust written all over him. He's livin' as high on the hog as he ever will. Once he gets to the NBA his shortcomings will be magnified. He won't say much about himself because there isn't much to say.

Thomas is not working out based on the advice of his agent. It's possible the agent realizes he's not as good as advertised and knows that competitive workouts would hurt his draft prospects. I think he's a one-year wonder who will be a bust in the NBA. Choosing him in the top 4 would be a huge mistake. I don't think he deserves the top 10. If it weren't for LSU's run to the Final Four, hardly anybody would be talking about him. He's far too unskilled to play SF and would be a joke as PF. I think his talk about playing SF in the NBA is false bravado. I'd draft Shelden Williams before Thomas.

As long as he's not expected to block shots or grab rebounds with his head, I'll take him for his wingspan alone.

Morrison's only working out for the top five teams. I'd hazard a guess and say Aldridge would be doing something similiar.

Interesting comment from Foye regarding Redick, out of all the guys he has worked out with, he singled JJ out. Mike Gansey also gave props to JJ as well after the Utah workouts. The workouts are treated so secretively by the teams that players comments are your only glimpses of how players are doing at the workouts. Looks to me that JJs stock is going up in the workouts. The Rox will have a difficult decision re: Reddick, we could use his shooting but we could also use Carney's and Brewer's length and athleticism. Maybe Boston takes Redick at 7 so we don't have to make the decision.

"You're not a GM, I don't have to sell myself to you." Read Thomas' inteview versus Aldridge's. You're certainly not helping your draft w/ interviews like this.

I like the way this kid plays on the court, he plays w/ a ton of fire. But this is a weird interview to me. I would love for Thomas to fall to us at #8, but he really needs to lighten up. His agent banned draftexpress from his workouts because they put him at #7 on their mock draft.

Pretty much my thoughts. It's one thing to play the game with fire and with a chip on your shoulder, and even to speak that way from time to time, but this just sounds like the guy is being unnecessarily standoffish. Especially that quote you highlighted. No point in taking it that far, in my opinion.

Of course, the irony of the situation is he's sitting there essentially saying that what some guy from a draft website thinks of him doesn't mean anything to him, but as you said, his agent threw a fit because they (draftexpress.com) ranked him at #7.

Thomas sounds like a crybaby. So what if draftexpress ranked you at #7. Prove them wrong. I hope he goes top 7 so he could push some real good talent down at 8.

Erm, he's always been in the top 7 (usually more like top 3). So him staying there doesn't change anything. It's the O'bryant, Foye, Marcus williams type surprises that will push the talent down to us.

I hate to cry over spilt milk but that win over the TWolves pushed us from being Thomas/Gay/Roy/maybe Morrison contendors to Carney/Brewer.

Im so tired of hearing that Gundy blew the end of the season. What was he supposed to do, forfeit the games. He didnt make any plays in the last week of the season. Why dont you blame the players for scoring and defending if that is your beef. Its over and done with. Quit complaining and hope the rox end up with a nice draft.

Thomas, supposedly, is only working out for the top 3, and the workouts are not competitive. Big difference. I know for a fact Morrison is working out competitively; not sure about Aldridge, besides the fact he's training with Chris Bosh. I wouldn't select Tyrus Thomas in the top 10. He's fools gold riding the bubble of 5 very good NCAA tournament games.
