My 16 YO nephew has been placed in a facility that deals with pre-addictive counseling. He has lost his way in life. He is one of the brightest and most engaging individuals you could ever meet. Pray for him.
Admitting himself to that facility is a great first step! I'll keep him and you, giddy, and the rest of your family in my prayers.
No edit - I should say that getting admitted to that facility is a great step instead of making it sound like he admitted himself.
absolutely...i have a couple of younger friends who are in similar programs and making great progress. i'll pray for your nephew.
I think that about sums it up... for people (adolescents in this case) who are seemingly on-track for addiction problems.
A friend of mine who had similar problems was admitted into such a program and he is now a completely sober 23 year old who still goes out but just sticks to red bull and he still picks of the chicks. He says women are his new drug.
Bad news. I got this email from my sister-in-law this morning. John had spent about 40 days in a facility, came home and lasted just 9 days or so. Please keep this young man in your thoughts and prayers-- even if for just a few seconds right now... "Family and friends: John just left. We told him he broke our rules so he needed to find somewhere else to live until he is ready to work" his program. " He left in anger and with profanity. We were not mad just matter of fact. The ball is in his court as it needs to be. We do not know where he was heading. But God is God and He has work to do that cannot be done any other way. Please pray over John and for us. ILY "
I hope this doesn't come across as offensive, but this seems like a very horrible way to handle this. I'm not sure how many times he's been in a program like this, but I gathered from this thread that this was his first time. If this was my son/relative/friend, I don't think I could just let him leave that way and leave it up to God. I'll definitely keep him in my thoughts...
