My 18 YO daughter, Amy, is undergoing heart valve replacement surgery on Wednesday. They replaced this valve when she was 9, but it needs replacing again... eventually. I am so proud of her bravery. She met with the surgeons today and they told her, at the eleventh hour, that this did not need to be done at this point in time but that it would need to be done sooner or later. Since she had already planned her summer around having it done on June 2nd, she elected to go ahead and have it done on June 2nd. It would have been so easy to put it off. Love you Amy! Please pray for her surgeon's skill and a quick recovery for a very special kid!
I wish your daughter all the best. She's incredibly brave... braver than I would be given any kind of choice about delaying surgery. She'll be in my thoughts. Giddy, is this in Houston? Which hospital?
Damn Giddy...a girl at eighteen (and nine) shouldn't have these worries. And neither should her parents. All my best. May she be healthy and driving you crazy in no time.
I couldnt imagine having to go through something like that, especially at that age. She'll definately be in my prayers.
Good luck to you and your daughter... It sucks having family under the knife. cant sleep, eat drin, or do anything proparly
She's at Duke University Hospital. Thanks everybody. I'll let you know how things progress. I think my daughter is just about as stubborn as her dad...
