Ok so I just got another call from this mysterious prank caller. He calls everyday, every hour. I have caller ID, but it says unknown. I tried *69, but it just gave me that rapid busy signal. Is there anyway I can just block this dude? It's starting to annoy me.
Call the phone company. They can set up a trace, but it will probably cost you. I think it's around $20 here. Once you have traced the number, you can go to the police and consider pressing charges.
I had a guy call my house one night pretending to be a cop with a warrant for my wife. She talked to him for a second and then handed the phone to me. When I got quiet, I could hear the guys in the background snickering and talking... I called and asked for a trace of the call...then was presented with the option of pressing charges. I didn't. Then I signed on to Caller ID and signed up for blocking all calls where the caller intentionally makes himself anonymous. Ultimately I unlisted my phone number, but that had more to do with concern about clients calling me at home.
after the person calls do this: 1. press *60 2. wait till the recording says "block last person who called" (or something like that) 3. make sure you press "3" so that you turn your call block ON also, i think it repeats the number that you just blocked after you do it... it says something along the lines of "you have just blocked 713-blah blah blah" so you could just get the number that way and call them back.
Sweet advice Diseased i never heard of doing that before, i really want my parents to get caller id though, doubt we will anytime soon though.
To further expand on this idea: Call information and get an address, load your nine millimeter Glock, proceed to said destination, knock on door. Drag door answerer out from porch and tackle in front yard. Be sure neighbors hear your speech clearly, over-annunciate if need be. Place muzzle of said weapon in mouth of said prank caller, yelling at the top of your lungs while sitting on top of his chest in his front yard, "Call me again Mother F%$#er, I dare you. Call me again." Walk away confidently, head held high, gait swift, yet purposeful.
to further expand on this idea: run away as you hear sirens getting closer or use the prank caller as a human shield.

Or next time they call just say...... "Officer, this is the call I want traced, and I do want to press charges." They will think you have turned them in. DaDakota
