The nba.com Power Rankings is on. Although the Rockets are at 10, John Schuhmann tells us an inconvinient truth: "A prediction: The Rockets make the playoffs for the first time since Yao Ming's last full season, which means they lose their first-round pick in a great draft." link: http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/#?ls=iref:nbahpt1
Actually, I think losing the draft pick this year is a very convenient truth. The pick being owed to NJ hampers the Rocks ability to make trades as the next 5 or 6 years of draft picks are tied up until that obligation is met.
Better to get it over with now than to have an owed draft pick hanging over our heads for a few years.
Oh noes we notz getz a 6'9 power forward with the 14th pick! No need to worry nba.com. DM will make it up by drafting a second rounder with more upside.
Our first round pick would have spend his time losing D League games and shaming us by getting into bar fights in Kansas anyway. Good riddance.
^Patterson is solid and D Mo is playing overseas. Don't get your point besides hating on Morris at every chance you get.
Don't worry about the sweat from Carl Herrera OP. He just gets real upset when someone does not makeup a SUPER FUNNY thread title to go with there inane thread.........
This really doesn't matter. The draft is too deep to worry about something like this. I am willing to bet that most of the lotto picks will be ranked lower than some 2nd rounders. Chandler Parsons?
I think this draft is beginning to get overrated. Yeah, Anthony Davis is insanely good. But other players haven't impressed me that much.
This years pick or next years... 6 of one, half dozen of another... Besides between DMo next year, developing Parsons and Morris, and to a lesser extent PPat... Lull in the wings... we dont really have room or time anyway... heck, I'm bettin we deal the NY pick on the same premise...
Yea cause there will be a real winner at #20 Seriously, "a deep draft" does not mean there are hall of famers stacked throughout 1-30
This draft is overrated. Look at picks 12-14 for the last ten years. There is nobody significant in the whole list. But now suddenly, we're missing out on our future mvp if we make the playoffs. I guess it's possible this will be the greatest draft in the history of sports drafts, but that would still be a mild disappointment.
There are so many reasons why I would gladly give up our 1st round draft pick to make the playoffs. Many of which have already been posted here. But this draft class is heavily overrated. At one point, it was supposed to be twice as deep as any other draft because of the lockout and its effect on players that entered last year's draft. Then it was only deep 1-10 and 20-30. Now we're seeing reports that it isn't any better a draft class than last year's. NBA GM Not Impressed by Potential Draft Pool Anyway, it turns my brain in knots when I hear or read someone that resents us being tied with the Lakers' record and sitting only 1 game behind the defending champion Mavericks halfway through the season so that we have the opportunity to draft another solid role-player. It's not so deep a draft that everyone in the lotto wins a superstar this year. Think.
