1. Jason Kidd: Took the mantle from Gary Payton last year. No point guard affects a game, any game, like the 2002 shouldabeen MVP. 2. Gary Payton: The young bucks are nipping at his heels, but GP still has the nastiest snarl of them all, all long arms and enough knowledge to make a $70-million man out of Rashard Lewis. 3. Baron Davis: Vaulted above nearly everyone else after just three years in the L, the Hornets don't have a chance without him, while his body, skills and smarts ensure that he'll be tops before his time is done. 4. Steve Nash: He may have peaked, and he may fall out of the top-ten next season, but answer me this: was anyone, outside of Kidd, more dangerous with the ball in his hands last season than Nash? 5. Andre Miller: So the NBA's assist leader is number five, but I have to exceed caution in dealing with a player who's never piloted a winning team to anything. I hope to the basketball gods that he proves me wrong in 2002-03, taking that Clipper crew through the roof. 6. Mike Bibby: I got goose bumps there for a second, getting ready to cut and paste John Stockton's name into the number six slot before realizing that Bibby has passed him. 7. John Stockton: Stockton still amazes, he still puts that Jazz team on his back every night and he still will destroy you in a number ways; pretty damn good for any age. 8. Steve Francis: I would have had Franchise pegged into the third slot this time last year, he had a rough go of things in 2002-03, but we've yet to see the best of this man. Man, this ranking sucks. Steve Francis is way better than John Stockton and Mike Bibby. He is more explosive than Andre Miller and Steve Nash. And, he plays similar to Baron Davis. So, Steve should atleast be ranked 3 or 4. Hell, after this year he could actually become the second best point guard after Kidd.
oh god no, u dont put Davis to the third SPOT!!! b/c he suck in shooting(o well, he is a 35%3-shooter, but thats just avg!!) and FT(a less factor in 4th quarter).
Rocket 2003:- Steve Francis will move upto at least #2 after the 02/03 season. This will be his breakout year-9.5ast. 3stls. 20pts per gm. Winning at least 51 games.
Kelly, Terry is not a SG. Thank you. Proceed. Maybe Bibby is not really a point guard, either, since he could not average more than 5 apg...
"8. Steve Francis: I would have had Franchise pegged into the third slot this time last year, he had a rough go of things in 2002-03, but we've yet to see the best of this man. " HUH!??!?! He had a rough go in 2002-2003??? He hasn't even played that season yet! Did Miss Cleo write this or what?
That's because he plays on a Kings team where every player likes to pass. That doesn't leave a lot of assists for him to pick up. Webber averages 4.8 a game, Christie 4.2, Divac 3.7, and Stojakovic 2.5. That's a lot of assists for the 4 non-pg's in the starting lineup to have. Bibby averaged 8.4 and 8.1 apg the last 2 years playing on a horrible Grizzlies team.
Francis is better than Nash, Bibby, Stockton, & Miller straight up IMO and its close between him & Davis so I think this list is a bit off. Sofine, don't worry about that Francis to the Blazer. There is no way in hell we trade The Franchise for another SG and a PF. And nice sig .
He's had better yrs in Phoenix, its just the East isn't worth a damn. I still think Payton is the best pg. How many times have Kidd made it out the 2nd rd in the west?
Thank you Stylez, I try Also I was wondering what was the rumored deal supose to consist of? Man I guess the guy that started that rumor will forever live in that imfamous shadow!
leebigez, EXACTLY. The Nets would be even better if Payton was running the point. At least he could take over in the Finals if no one else is ready to respond. Kidd is just NOT a very gifted scorer, and it hurts him when trying to carry his team.
"If Steve gets his head right he'll be the best pg ever." You're just playing right? Anyway, I can agree with that, except for Bibby and Nash....too high IMO.
