does anyone after watching that speech today not think that powell would make a great president? this guy would run over anyone he ran against...i mean even democrats respect him. he would also become the first black president ever. i dunno...but i find powell to be an amazing and inspiring person and i think he would be a great president after bush.

I can't think of anyone in the American political landscape who I respect more.

You guys do know he doesn't agree with Republicans on two major issues, even though he is Republican. I know for sure he is for affirmative action, and I think he's pro choice, I may be wrong on abortion.

Do you think if he ran something from his past would come out and tarnish his image?

There's allways some petty little thing an opposing party will dig up and exploit, but don't worry, we'll still get the typical "not black enough" crap we allready heard when he and Condi came aboard the Bush administration.

I don't think anything would say we as a country have made more progress than this man in the Whitehouse. He would be a superb candidate. A man of great credibility and accomplishment.

Well, for one I'm not a Republican, I vote for people, not parties (as an aside, I've been an eligible voter for 10 years & only voted for one GOP candidate in a federal election: Kay Bailey Hutchison). Second, there's no way I will agree with every stance a candidate has on the issues relevant to me (aside #2, abortion isn't very high on my list). There's a very good chance I'd vote for him regardless of what his party affiliation was at the time.

I'm strictly against AA, but I'd vote for him. No one can have everything they want in a president. I'd love to see Rice as his running mate. She's impresses the hell out of me. A black president and a black vice president.....that in itself would be an argument against AA.

I believe you mean "pretty little thing."

And Pole, what did American Airlines ever do to you? Damn, that's a weird thing to consider in politics.

As someone who hasn't voted for a Republican Presidential candidate since Bush Sr. in 88 I'd be hard pressed to find a Democrat I vote for if the Republicans produced Colin Powell as their candidate.

Colin Powell is the only voice of reason in Junior's Administration. He'd make a great President, and I wish he were President right now.

All the more reason he might be OK.

Well I just did a little research and he is also definitly pro-choice, so I don't think he would get that much support from the Republican Party if he decided to run.
