maybe he is one of the "bold" moves JVG hinted at. the guy is till young and Rockets don't need an all-star at 4 anyway.
If we somehow get both Brown and JWill, then we will have the #1 pick from 2001, #1 and #2 picks from 2002. That's just crazy. Well, Yao is the only one who panned out so far, and he's the only one I care about.
I think that Atlanta (as commented) speaks to his ultimate destination as MoC seems likely to have secured return of Dalembaert, a presumed Hawk target. And the ATL is not a hot spot for FAs.
Just do it! At least see what he's all about in an interview/workout. Let him explain himself, get a feel for what kind of enviroment the guy needs to become a productive NBA player, maybe it's the disciplined/demanding kind that Van Gundy creates. It did wonders for Kelvin Cato.
At the very least, he's still better than Torayye Braggs (sp?) I really think there is upside there.. he might be able to wreak havoc with yao and mcgrady soaking up double teams
I think Clutch nailed it with Kwame and Atlanta. That seems like a tailor made situation. Hawks draft Chris Paul as their PG, they have Childress, Josh Smith, Al Harrington. They can then get Kwame to be their C. And word is Woodson wants to get a C that can run, and that is something Kwame can do. Kwame would come to Atlanta with low expectations and would be closer to home. Makes sense to me. I will say this though, Kwame looks good in a Rockets uniform via Clutch's photoshop job.
He'd be a nice fallback option if we strike out with other pfs. He's very intriguing considering that we'd have to count on him at worst as a backup pf(nice compliment to Juwan though), and at best he could be exactly what the rox need from their starting pf. I'm sure Ewing could probly give JVG the most insight on the kid, considering he coached him for quite some time.
It wouldn't surprise me if the rockets take a stab at trying to steal this kid away from Washington. Maybe Juwan and a future pick, who knows. Kwame has got tons of talent and would not have the preasure to carry this team playing along side Ming. Yao, Kwame and Tracy is a young and formidable frontline. This would most definetly be a bold move I would consider. Sometimes the right change of scenery is all it takes for some players.
Even though he only played in like 2 games, he showed some sweet moves during the Chicago series. I think this would be a good situation for him. A lot of veteran players that can mentor him. Not a lot of pressure on him. He just has to collect rebounds and play some defense.
I'd like to see the Rockets take a gamble on him, but Clutch is right about JVG probably not wanting to have to mess with a history like that plus develop a still undeveloped player. I wouldn't think they would take on more than a couple of developmental type players since JVG seems unlikely to give them much time to develop. So if you're already considering Bad Man, Vaseline Man, and the draft pick as potential additions to next year's squad, that doesn't bode well for taking on another project like Kwame.
Bill Parcell said players like Kwame are like lures, they lure you with their potential and never produce. Washington is doing the right thing with Kwame, cut the line. The guy has conned Michael Jordan, Eddie Jordan, what makes you think JVG is is Brown's Svengali.
He needs to grow his hands about five sizes before he can dominate...damn Carnie...smells like cabbage
Just say no to headcases. The Wiz draft an immature 18 yr. old who can't take NBA pressure, and then they wonder why it didn't work out. That's just the risk you take when you draft a high schooler with the first pick whose name isn't Labron James. This kid's confidence is shot. I'd be surprised if he even liked playing the game anymore. Has looser writen all over him. If we were really desperate, and needed to take a longshot ... maybe, but we're a couple of solid players away from being where the Spurs are right now, and there's no need to possibly destroy the chemistry by brining in a headcase like Brown.
He does fit the profile of the type of move we are going to have to make if we are to improve much in the short term future of next year. So far JVG's teams, both in Houston and NY have always fallen into the category of "they did great with the relatively limited talent they have". (Not talking about T Mac & Yao). You aren't going to get a talent like Kwame, who also has a great attitude, with what the Rockets have to offer. On the Rockets all Kwame would have to do is rebound and play some defense. He could run the floor and dunk on passes from Tracy and maybe Mike James. It might be the type of low pressure- low expectation scene he needs to develop. I would trust JVG if he thought he could reach Kwame. Has JVG ever rehabilitated a player? I know Sprewell, but he was already a stud before moving to NY. Of course Abdul Rahim would fit the profile also and he may very well be getting unfairly criticized because he has played on lousy teams.
