I am assuming those are chipper potatoes, the ones used to make fries and potatoes chips. My first thought was why do they have potatoes now when the harvest was in October. That’s a lot of money they are giving away, this makes my nervous for our farmers.
Is there a more versatile vegetable? Ask the Irish. Baked Mashed Roasted In a Stew In a Soup Deep fried Pan fried Oven fried

I was wondering about this. Some friends of mine have teenagers and they've been complaining about how much groceries they have to buy especially with the kids stuck at home. I'm wondering why food service companies like Sysco couldn't just resell commercial sized food packages. My guess is that they have contracts or regulations selling only to food services but this seems like a time when exceptions can be made. For that matter restaurants with commercial licenses and contracts could resell the food they are getting from food service suppliers or for those doing Farm to Table resell farm products.
Sysco would have to sell direct and that creates other problems. They don't have the contracts with the grocery chains to sell their generic packaged products. Changing their lines to repackage is no small feat and nearly impossible to do in a reasonable amount of time. Even if they could get into the food stores, the stores would then have to reset shelves for larger products...and that's no easy feat either...mostly because of contractual issues they have with their current product lines...but also because changing a store layout requires many people over a couple of nights.
Presumably there are the same amount of people in the world eating the same number of total calories as there were six months ago. That having been said, the amount of waste for fresh produce has always been staggering. The farmers should band together and form a vodka distillery, then they can keep the product ,"in storage" until they can find a buyer.
Possible trump brain storage facility? They just change it out every couple of days before the eyes start growing out of them and then his ears.
I love potatoes. Seeing that image makes me sad, because of the waste, because of the hard times farmers must be having, because somewhere facilities that use them to supply supermarkets, for frozen foods, and yes, to make vodka, have shut down or cut production way back due to Covid-19. All that and the uses I’m forgetting, long lists of them posted here (and thanks for the ideas!). It’s incredible just how widespread the impact of this virus has become. If you are ultimately without the potato, is life really worth living? One has to wonder.
Of course. One every couple of weeks or so, right? Or you and Senator can talk ****...he's a special person.
I'm actually saying they don't repackage their products and maybe even go around grocery stores. Understand there are logistics and other issues here but at a time when food shelves are under severe demand while farmers are plowing under produce and pouring milk down the drain it should be worth it to make sure everyone is fed and food not wasted.
Red potato, cauliflour, poblanos, serranos, spinach, garlic...spices...some broth and some heavy cream. Blend it, leave some chunks. Awesome soup.
