Mine's gonna be really bad. Got the wife a new fridge for our anniversary and she put the old one in our garage, which is like a furnace. No telling how much that thing is costing to run. She was supposed to have sold it by now, but instead it's being used to store stuff she doesn't want in the brand new one.

    Crazy.

As most of you know I am in Arkansas. My last bill was in my old house which was 1350 sq. feet. It was $200.36 but that was 1 full bill + 10 days and I was on City Water & Light. I now live in a 2200 sq. foot home with 2 central air conditioning units and am on Craighead Electric which is supposed to charge a lot more than CWL. We'll see when I get that first bill later this month. :(

I'm pretty amazed. I'm renting this house but I'm sure it is at least 30 years old so I was expecting some horrendous electric bills (even with the all the trees surrounding the house). The house I just sold and moved from is only 3 years old and 1900 sq. ft and my electric bills last summer were consistently just over $200 all summer long so I'm sure they would have been at least $50-$75 higher this summer.

I'm relentless when it comes to our NRG usage, nothing stays plugged in even when it's off except for necessary items like the fridge and cable boxes.. A/C stays off when we're not home and it doesn't go below 76 when we are and I've switched ALL our lights to florescent.. I want a pool again, but the cost of running the pumps all day scares me..

Texans set second summer electric use record on heat

Texas set a second all-time electric use record on Monday as blazing heat and a lack of rain kept air conditioners running amid temperatures in the low triple-digit range across the state, according to initial data from the state grid operator.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) said power use at the hour ending at 5 p.m. CDT (2200 GMT) was 63,454 megawatts, surpassing last week's peak-hour record of 62,786 MW.
