Yeah....all the other scenarios listed could happen for the Rockets, except this one. We are not going to be picking up a PG in the draft. Damn Brandon Roy in that UConn game, why couldn't he foul out and keep his stock low. I wanted him and thought we would be able to get him until that game.
this draft after #5 is a wash. The talent is thin. #1 Portland - LaMarcus Aldridge #2 Chicago - Tyrus Thomas #3 Charlotte - Adam Morrison #4 Atlanta - Rodney Carney #5 Toronto - Rudy Gay #6 Boston - Brandon Roy #7 Houston - Andrea Bargnani #8 Minnesota - Shelden Williams #9 Golden State - Patrick O' Bryant #10 Seattle - Randy Foye
Why doesn't anyone think Shelden Williams will be picked by us? Don't we need that PF to replace Swift and Howard?
I keep saying we should pick Williams--he is that nasty power forward we have all wanted to help Yao. That being said, Leslie Alexander stated that they were looking at a long, tall shooting guard in the draft so i think people are running with that. We should only draft Williams if Roy is unavailable though, the people here have sold me on him. But both he and Shelden W. seem like smart, NBA-ready players which is exactly what this team needs. And seeing as we are lacking at both PF and SG, both players make sense for us.

My top six, who at this juncture, could go in any order, are 1. Tyrus Thomas 2. LaMarcus Aldridge 3. Adam Morrison 4. Andrea Bargnani 5. Rudy Gay 6. Brandon Roy After this point, there seems to be a noticeable drop-off in "blue-chippiness", such as in 2001, when the top seven were evaluated fairly equally pre-draft: 1. Kwame Brown 2. Tyson Chandler 3. Pau Gasol 4. Eddy Curry 5. Jason Richardson 6. Shane Battier 7. Eddie Griffin 8. DeSanga Diop For #7, it will depend largely on who's got the pick; Minnesota has tons of holes, but I suspect they'd pick Rodney Carney to improve fan interest and fill their hole at the three spot. For #8, Golden State, I really have no idea what they're going to do. They've got a sizeable contract at every position (Foyle, Murphy, Dunleavy, Richardson, Davis AND Fisher), plus several reserves they need to develop (Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins, and especially Ike Diogu). This might be a good place for a trade for the Warriors, perhaps also getting rid of a bad contract. For value, I think the best pick here is Marcus Williams, probably the best point Guard coming out. Finally, what we've endured a miserable season to get; our precious #9 pick, and no athletic swingman in sight. I'm extremely upset that the Bulls can't trade their pick next year; it would certainly seem like a perfect opportunity to draft Sheldon Williams for them, then pick up their first this year and next, ala the Joel Pryzbilla/Jason Collier swap of 2000. Since that's not an option, and assuming we'd have to trade down, I'd go with Ronnie Brewer here, and hope his Shawn Marion-esqe shooting stroke can be as effective as it's namesake's. Finally, at #10, Mardy Collins seems to fit well next to Seattle's tiny backcourt of Luke Ridnour and Earl Watson, as well as helping improve one of the worst defenses in the NBA. At the #11 spot, I have Redick going to Orlando. They've got a pretty fearsome young front court down in Florida, and they should be able to cover up his defensive deficiencies. Finally, at #12, Sheldon Williams goes off the board after a mini-slip. Philadelphia has shown they're able to score in bunches with ease; its stopping the other team that's the problem. Therefore, they're able to resist the temptation of local product Randy Foye, and bring in Sheldon, who should help keep Shavlik Randolph and Michael Bradley where they belong: planted on the bench. #13 is the feel-good story New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. They should be feeling good as well in this draft, as their primary need of size falls right into their laps with Bradley's Patrick O'Bryant. 7 feet, 260 pounds, and he's proven he can play. The only question is, is he quick enough for the uptempo offense that the Hornets run? I don't think so, and I believe that if they're willing to go international for this one, picking up Tiago Splitter would be a much better fit, yet I get the sense that NO/OKC wants to make a run at the playoffs next year, and from all accounts, Splitter won't even be allowed to play in the NBA next year. I'll put them down for Splitter for now. Finally, the 5th seeded Jazz at #14. Amazingly, this high seeded playoff team got a lottery pick. . . and they select. . .what? They're not in the playoffs? Because they play in the West? Because the East is that bad? Ok, anyway, the Jazz suddenly realize on draft day that there aren't any white guys to draft. Therefore, they pick the guy with the whitest sounding name, Patrick O'Bryant, recoiling with horror when they realize he's actually the Rookie of the Year for the Reggie Cleveland All-Stars. Then they realize he's big, slow and unskilled, and if there's one kind of player that fits Utah better than white, it's big and raw, and they like to keep 'em that way, not developing them in the least. There's my lottery mock, which will probably be obsolete by tonight.

As dumb as the Hawks are, there is no way they pick Marcus Williams at #4. And I'll be extremely pissed if we pass on Bargnani if available, the guy is a Top 3 pick.
you see them passing on the best point guard available two years in a row? i think it's possible that they take him outright, or take someone else and trade down for Williams + change.
