Look I'm really sorry if this doesn't deserves a new thread, because I see a lot of excited Rockets fans starting a thread a minute.

Did anyone see Van Gundy's post game interview last night? To me it seemed as if he answered one question and one question only. As if he gave the media one chance to get his attention and it was hilarious! An Asian reporter started the questions by asking Jeff in a strong Asian accent, " What do you think Dallas did differently defensively tonight than they did in game one?" Not really understanding or probably didn't hear him clearly, Jeff asked if he could repeat the question. The reporter asked again in the strong Asian accent (trying to paint a picture here), " What do you think Dallas did differently defensively tonight than they did in game one?" Jeff answered him with this look on his mug like his team was down 0-2 and his dog was just shot by South park Crypts......"I don't know! You need to ask their coach that question. I have enough problems with my own team!" and walked off stage with his coffee!

I along with Kenny Smith, Charles and Magic thought it was hilarious! This team has really taken on his attitude.....us against the world and nobody else matters. I love it and I enjoying having the little prick around. Winning really cures all ills.
I must admit that in the beginning when Van Gundy was hired, I believed he was a good coach with a dry personality. I thought a lot of his quotes were funny as hell, but they lost humor when last years team struggled. I now see his vision and the direction he wanted HIS TEAM to go. I'm proud to have him.

ps.....if they lose this series, I retract my previous statement

    Thanks,

    Management

Avery Johnson's performance before JVG's really annoyed me.

Someone asked Avery why he didn't play Marquis Daniels more, and Avery snapped with:

"How many playoff games have you been in?"

As if he's Red Auerbach or something and should never be second guessed.

I wish I'd been there to say, "How many playoff series have you coached in before, Avery? None? Well it shows, b****."

It wasn't that bad. And Johnson was right. He can't play everybody. Daniels has been inconsistent throughout the year.

Josh Howard was playing great and the remaining players were all veterans.

If I was a coach who just lost a really close game and had some reporter ask me about Marquis Daniels, I'd be irritated too.

How about when the cell phone went off with some little tune...Van Gundy said, "that's a funky song."

then before the next question could be asked another cell phone went off with a little tune...and everyone laughed....and Van Gundy said,

    "it's a lot funnier after a win." :D

I think the question JVG walked out on was just the final question of the press conference.

Avery did get a little irritated. :D That had to be one frustrating game for the poor guy/

Ok..I'm sorry, then i caught the very end of the press conference. The way TNT aired it.....it seemed as if that was the only question of the night and he walked out as soon as he answered it. Regardless....he's quotes are freak'n priceless!

I thought it was obnoxious. What are you supposed to ask the guy? Softball questions?

It's your job to stand up there and answer the tough questions. Maybe if you're a perennial playoff coach you've earned the right to shoot people down, but not if you're a rookie.

A tough question is why did you insert Keith Van Horn when you know he's a choker.

Who cares about Marquis Daniels. He played 9 minutes and went 0-2. Who was he going to take out - Josh Howard?

Imagine if the Rockets lost by 2 and someone asked Van Gundy why we didn't play Clarence Weatherspoon. Van Gundy wouldve told him to STFU.

the thing is that Avery didn't just say STFU. he asked the guy how many playoff games he'd been in as if Avery's coached 300 playoff games. He's coached 2. So, in my opinion, he hasn't been around long enough to use playoff experience as a barometer to tell somebody to STFU.

Not after coaching 2 playoff games.

It was the wording that Avery used that annoyed me.

Daniels was very good in last year's playoffs. The Mavs had high hopes in him, as far as becoming another Tmac. But I think he is suffering "big fat contract" syndrome after the Mavs offered him a nice contract.

Please do not mention Daniels and T-Mac in the same sentence. They are best friends, but Marquis would tell you he's not even in the same country, let alone in the same ballpark as Mac.

I doubt if the Rockets had lost by two, the announcers of the game wouldn't have been wondering where Clarence Weatherspoon was. They did wonder where Marquis Daniels was, though.

    LOL! :D :D

I'm with you man. Avery definitely acted obnoxious and the wrong way. He's just a little pissy baby. Look at the way he acted when his team got 22 more free throws! He musta been goin' insane last night now that it was an evenly called game. I'm sure he realizes his mistakes and that he's being outcoached (unless he's that dumb), and it's pissing him off. Instead of correcting the problem, he's taking his fat aggression out on the refs and media. Nice...

P.S. Does anyone have a full transcript of all of JVG's postgame interview (however brief, and I know it was more then just that one question). That'd be sweet if someone could post it!
