I live in probably one of the bluest states if not the bluest state in California. I voted for Barack Obama because I felt he was the candidate that was better suited to serve and lead this country. I was proud to be an American on the night of Nov 4 when I heard he had become the President-elect.

But now I am starting to get a bit annoyed at people. Not at President-elect Obama but at some of his supporters.

Anyways over the past 10 days I have been into work when I walk around the floor people are still celebrating like crazy I mean some of them just bust out dancing and cheering at the mere mention of Obama's name. What scares me is that almost all these people feel that Obama will just take care of all their problems without putting hard work of their own. One of them isnt worried about the Prop 8 measure here passing because she said once Obama is president he will take care of it.

I know that these people are not indicative of the population as a whole, but the fact that there are people like that out there is down right scary at times for me. Hard work is the only thing that is going to get this country out of the sh!tter and it frustrates me that people arent seeing the larger issue at hand here. I've tried to explain to a few of them that I am friends with that things aren't going to turn all rainbows and sunny next January and that its going to take time and hard work before anything gets turned around.

    anyways end rant

They are going to believe whatever they want no matter how much you try to set them straight.

Send them the YouTube of Obama's speech on election night... highlight the words

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there."

Sorry they are frustrating you... maybe it's their age?

Some people are that way. Many of my fellow McCain supporters think we are doomed by Obama's election. It aggrevates me that they think the world will end now that Obama is elected. My brother always tells me he is ready to move to Canada now. Another friend is somehow deathly afraid of riots when he things go bad.

Your brother's moving to Canada to escape higher taxes, 'socialized' medicine, 'liberal' ideals, and a withdrawal from Iraq???? Okey Dokey.

Does he know we play 3 down football?

Well he though Kerry would turn us into France if he got elected. He is way too far right, and listens to too much talk radio.

We are indeed white. I blame that for costing me my dream of playing in the NBA. That and I am shorter than Aaron Brooks.

Its about their team winning, not about who won and what they plan on doing.

Its similar to a so called die hard rockets fan that would trade for Malone and Stockton or Bryant for a guarantee victory.

Ya... half of them probably put Obama stickers on their cars AFTER the election.

    Damn bandwagon election fans.

Huh? Malone or Stockton I get, but not Kobe. He hasn't ever done anything to the Rockets, nor have the Lakers eliminated us from the playoffs in recent times. (We were going to lose with Quitten regardless in '99)

Huh? Not that I hate the Lakers more than the Jazz, but 2004 is certainly more recent than 1998.

Hum. I can't believe I totally blacked out on 2004...I still don't really harbor any ill will towards the Lakers or Kobe, as we weren't very good that year anyway, so I'd like to say my point still stands, but it's definitely more wobbly than it was before...

The only thing I really even remember about that series is Yao's terrible and1 play on Shaq to lose the game and Boki being a hardass.

Not really. Just very opinionated and very stubborn. I don't think he really cares for Canada, he just doesn't like any other country.

how could you have forgotten that year??

I will forever hold on to my Boki bobblehead just because of that play as a reminder of "The Failman" b****titude that Boki served up that game.

Best play by a Rockets role player ever. :D

Does he know how unintentionally hilarious his threats are? That's like me trying to escape from rain by moving to Seattle.

He does. He'd really like to leave Denver more than anything. He says hes surrounded by liberals. He would like to move to Texas or Georgia. Then he would be surrounded by conservatives.

I'm just excited for what I'm going to see tax wise. I love new tax code(good thing considering I specialize in tax).

I said this during the primaries and it still holds. I worry more about die hard Obama supporters than about Obama himself.

I loved his acceptance speech for how sober it was and I've been finding Obama to be much more pragmatic and realistic than I thought a year ago. What worries me though is the letdown that will inevitably come when many of his supporters find out that he doesn't change things as much as they might expect.

Those talking about doom and gloom over an Obama victory are much worse than giddy Obama supporters. Listen to Obama's speeches and just see what he has done in the past year. Heck he voted to allow the NSA to legally by pass the FISA court. If anything liberals should be worried that Obama is going to govern way more from the center than they would like.
