Why Rockets dont post Artest a lot? Everytime he posts, something good happens and I dont understand why Rockets dont post him more, especially late in games.

I would rather them post him then him taking jump shots cuz he is more likely
to score in a post up or get a foul called...

We saw what he did to Utah in that overtime game...

For one, getting him the ball isn't the easiest thing...

That's what i been saying...that is Artest strength. That is why it is wrong for him to go for homerun against the Bulls in the last minutes.

Tonight, he posted two straight times and he scored both times and then, he started to take long shots.

    His post up moves SUCK....

He only is able to post against smaller players, and mismatches.

Yao is already on the block...

    Don't fix what isn't broken.

Ron Artest has been excellent on post ups in the last month. I thought you were for sharing the ball and getting multiple players involved. Our offense is better off if we have multiple post ups threats on the floor at the same time.

I really don't mind posting Ron more often, especially in the 4th quarters when we run into those offensive dry spells. The success rate of Ron's post game is surprisingly high. Despite his lack of post moves and quickness, Ron can usually just bully his way to the basket, and without fouling most of the times. That is nothing short of amazing. It's like Barkley in his hey days.

Every defender is a mismatch for Ron. He is either stronger or quicker, against EVERY defender(maybe Chuck Hayes;))

His posts are very effective and efficient, Pretty or not.

Agree. Artest and Yao always play together after T-MAC's injury. If Artest post everytime, when shall Yao stand?

I agree with this, as well as the OPs idea.... Artest presents a good option in the post, and if anything, late in the game, keeps him involved, close to the basket ...

but don't expect him to necessarily pass if he gets doubled... that is the risk.

I think he takes way too many 3 pointers....

im mean he is hitting them at a good clip... but it seems to me he misses alot the last 5 minutes of a game...

    what you think?

It's ok to shoot from downtown if you have a HUGE lead. But if you see the other team trying to make a comeback or your team is struggling to make a basket, you should post up and drive to draw fouls and change the momentum of the game, NOT SHOOTING 3s!! The good smart players like Jordan and Kobe, they do that very often to break the momentum, that is what makes them great players.

I think shooting 40% from 3pt range is equal to shooting 60% from 2pt range.

dude, did you watch that game? they screwed up the inbounds past.
don't blame it on artest. I'm sure that wasn't the original plan.

Rick "hey guys, screw up the in bounds and have Ron heave a desperation shot"

    no

Ron can shoot the rock when he gets the ball in rhythm.

This team does not need Tmac to succeed simply because the offense running through Yao is enough!!! Artest handling the ball and becoming the 2nd option is better than Tmac in terms of efficiency. His post up option is unstoppable...and he can draw foul and he's a good FT shooter.

    SO here's what i think:

I think this team should trade Tmac for someone that is also a superstar and play exceptional defense. In other words, that player has to be as good as Battier or Artest defense. So where in the world can we get that player?? None. We can trade him for a crafty player...like Ginobili but that's not going to happened. Dirk? won't happened. Redd?? But Redd don't play solid D. Hamilton? But he doesn't play solid D either.

Or we can trade him for some decent players that can provide offensive spark off the bench and not necessarily take over Artest and Battier as the starters. We can trade him for a solid backup Center to rest Yao and Scola...like Baynum but would Lakers do this?? No. Would Cleveland give up Illugska? No!

If nothing work...then i guess we have to keep Tmac...but i prefer him coming off the bench than as a starter. Because the starters we have now is solid running through Yao imo. The problem is the lack of spark coming off the bench ..so we need Tmac to provide that. In fact, i'll be perfectly happy if we can keep Tmac but have him coming off the bench ONLY. If he refuse...trade the mth****r cuz he ain't a great scorer anymore and he's very insistent and he doesn't play D like Shane and Ron and destroy chemistry with the bulk of shots with a terrible shooting rate. Plus he's lazy and uncompetitive. Unlike our starters...EVERY SINGLE players are competitive and want to win...Yao, Scola, Artest, Shane, Brooks. Well Brooks may not be as competitive (who knows) but 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

Now you wonder why the team as been successful recently?? It's because 4 out of the 5 players on the floor are competitive players. Where as we used to have Rafer, Tmac, Shane, Scola and Yao. That's 3 out of 5. Rafer and Tmac are not competitive by nature. Now we have 4 out of 5 or possibly 5 out of 5..who knew about Brooks...he's still new.

I agree and disagree with DD.

I think he has nice post moves, but I don't think they would make up for the attention we would have to move away from running the offense normally to posting him up.
