    Wallace And Duhon For Hughes?
    February 21, 2008 - 2:06 pm
    Ric Bucher/ESPN -
The Cavaliers are discussing a deal where Ben Wallace and Chris Duhon would go to Cleveland for Larry Hughes, according to ESPN's Ric Bucher.

Chad Ford reports that a source tells him the deal would send Wallace, Duhon and Joe Smith for Hughes and Drew Gooden.

The holdup in the deal, according to Ford, is Cleveland's instance that Hughes be included. If the Cavs drop that demand, the Bulls will reportedly agree.

Bucher also reports that if the Cavs make the Bulls trade, they would then deal Donyell Marshall and Ira Newble to Seattle for Wally Szczerbiak.

RealGM Note: The Cavaliers would need to add more salary in order to make the deal work, which could lead to the inclusion of Shannon Brown. [READ]

Apparently this is their backup plan. There are some rumors of them getting marion or someone of his caliber.

I really don't know what to say. Many deals in the works involving Wallace and Hughes have been reported left and right. I can't stand Wallace...and we already have enough defenders/rebounders w/ no scoring ability. And now we're losing our mediocre scorers for even less offensive game?

Ugh. Another Cleveland rumor is that this is really all posturing by Ferry to look like he's trying to do something. After Kidd and Bibby found new homes, not to mention the Pau Gasol steal Cleveland and Lebron are not happy.

Yeah, the Wally trade seems likely now. BTW, Ford said news of some trades don't come out until 3 hours later, so it's possible we may hear some more stuff soon.

Uh oh, now it sounds like this thing has serious legs. Even rumors of a 10 player trade between Cle/Sea/Chi. I've got a dentist appointment now. At least I'll be preoccupied for the time being.

Interesting. Not sure about the Ilgauskas/Wallace frontline though.

Dear Christ, Danny Ferry is an idiot. He just made LeBron's supporting cast worse, and worsened their cap situation at the same time.

I'm thinking that loss to the Rockets and Lebron praising our role players and sorta dissing his teammates was the catalyst for this.

Bulls come out well in the trade. Hughes is overpaid, but they finally can let Hinrich share the backcourt with a guard with size. Drew Gooden helps their PF rotation a lot. Getting Wallace off the team is reason enough for them to all party and get drunk tonight.
