I know some people may tear me to shreds on this concept because on the

surface it sounds like a bad idea but, When Yao gets back, if the team's

chemistry/ record regresses then i suggest JVG ignore Yao's fouls. For this to

be most effective let's just say Yao plays the first 6 minutes of the first two

quarters. Before i think he played the first 8. This gives the rockets a chance

to now hit them with left. By "left" i mean the current gorgeous rockets

offense with some the highest assists totals and lowest turnovers totals i've

seen from the rockets in 10 years. We're not losing much defensively with

the leagues best rebounder(p48) holding down the paint. When Yao comes in

the second half I say JVG disregrd Yao's fouls. He'll probably be able to get 4

or even 5 fouls. What that means is Yao will be super agressive, fresher, and

it will eliminate any defensive hesitation. If Yao does get to foul number five

let it ride, unless we are playing the mavs or suns. I hate games where Yao

gets 3 early, sits, then finishes the game with 4. Today's rockets are better

then 27 other teams in my opinion. This will keep Yao fresh for the playoffs. I

thought about it very hard and there is alot arguments to both sides of this strategy. I'd aprreciate feedback. I also know i'm a poor writer so nobody needs to remind me. thanks

    yaa...

errm the problem with ur strategy is that sometimes by keeping yao on the bench due to fouls from "super agression", we tend to get bogged down in jump shooting and against good teams (dallas, phoenix, etc) it can lead to getting OWNED

i liked the part w/ yao getting more rest tho :D

when our scoring lapses occur in the late 3rd/4th quarter and yao isn't there we are screwed

Not that it's a bad idea, it's cool. But you can't just ignore fouls like that.
We would definitely need Yao. But our offense should revolve less around Yao that im SURE of. The original offense won't be as multi dimensionnal as the one we have now, where everyone is scoring, the game against the bobkatz for example..we had like 7 players in double figures. So yea when yao does get back, he should still be able to sacrifice minutes to deke seeing what he's done so far.
your plan is good, but has faults. Nice effort;)

Yao won't get 5 fouls in one quarter. He probably won't in a quarter in a half. the point is unless Yao hacks like chuck hayes then he won't come near 6 thus playing MORE in the second half.

look Yao is a fast starter and Tmac is a finisher, they need to work more on their combo game instead of deferring to each other. once they figure that out and play more together rather than two stars playing with each other. when they do that the championships will flow

How bout we let JVG be JVG and let JVG do his job?

Too many "At-Home" Coaches here.. lol

I'm sure you have good reason behind ur points but I'm just saying JVG is doing a good job so let's just let him do his thing..

JVG needs to take advantage of Yao Mings shooting ability, he needs to learn the top of the key thing Hakeem the Dream used to do. Making him fight for post position every time just get him worn-out and clogs the middle...this will help open up the floor.........

you do understand how paragraphs work, right? if you want start a new paragraph you do it after the sentence is over.

anyhow, the only problem I see with your idea is that yao has not has much trouble with foul trouble this year. so I don't think it is needed to do this.

MLA standard allows single spacing for BBS forums ;)

    http://www.nba.com/statistics/playe...d=N&yearsExp=-1&sortOrder=3&splitDD=All Teams
    Fouls Per 48 Minutes:
    Mutombo: 5.5
    Yao: 4.6

    - They list 55 centers on NBA.com. Mutombo is #43, Yao #48. Mutombo's foul rate might be less since he's been starting but its still almost a foul more per game over Yao.
    - Yao pretty much plays the most minutes per game amongst centers (.2 behind Tim Duncan) so cuz he's in the game longer to pick up the extra foul he's always on the verge. And why he's number #7 on the centers list in fouls/game.
    - It also indicates a little whats going on in the league with the center positition if Yao who can't seemingly stay in the game is the Iron Man of Centers in minutes played. Hardly ANY CENTER plays over 30 minutes.

*edit* Not sure why Dwight Howard, Ben Wallace, Tyson Chandler and other forward/centers are not on that list. Just going off what they put.

So they probably shouldnt be too concerned with Yao's foul calls. He's done better this year with fouls, though the league should still look at how they call fouls in the paint. I say the Rockets slightly adjust Yao's focus to emulate more of what Mutombo is doing, with the added benefit that Yao scores 8 times better to make up for the "lacking" D.

i would too, but earlier in the thread i said "if the rockets regress". I think it would be fun to see once in a while. Especially on east cost trips.

    sorry missed that part

mmm if we do regress, I would think its because of chemsitry issues most notably at the PF front (ie chucky or Juwan)

I still think CHcuky complement Yao better than Juwan even though he has been getting 15/8 or whatever he has been getting
