Watch this video available on Youtube of Tracy Mcgrady training with his personal trainer. http://youtube.com/watch?v=wIJPq8SP-Cc Notice the terrible form, in particular where he arches his back while bench pressing. If that dude training McGrady did not get canned yet, this is quite worrisome.
Been posted time and time again and all anybody can ever really say is "damn his form looks horrible, that trainer doesn't know what he's doing" and then someone else says "he's a professional trainer hand picked by Tracy McGrady...I think he knows more about proper form than you do" and it pretty much just goes in a circle until the argument dies from old age. He's still with that same trainer though, since you wondered.
that's from beginning of last season and i'm sure the personal trainer knows he's doing...and tmac isnt fragile...it's just his back...i dont see the rest of his body bothering him...
he also bounces barbell off the chest, definitely bad form. on a different note, was he training at home? I wish I had a gym like that at home.
Man, he has horrible form in most of those exercises. He goes way too fast and his body swings when he should stay in form. He's getting little or no negative benefit. I did like on the court exercises. I guess ANY weight training is better than none, but he really does need to can that guy and get someone who is going to work his ass.
He slings the dumbell around too much. You're right that his form will not allow negative motion benefits. Something doesn't seem right with T-Mac. I hope he snaps out of whatever it is, because I do like the guy.
I think calling Tmac fragile is a bit ridiculous. I guess Lebron would be even more fragile since Deke actually busted his face up. I think this thread should be about the fact that Deke's elbows should be registered as weapons.
Strength training for sports is different from bodybuilding. In bodybuilding you should not swing at all because you want to isolate the muscle. Strength training for an athlete is different. An athlete has to use his whole body as a unit. You are allowed to swing a little more on certain exercises, which helps you develop power.
Tmac does seem a little unlucky when it comes to accidental contact lately. So far this season he's been K.O.'d once by Deke which has happened to other players in the past. We all remember Deke's B-day gift to Lebron last year. Then there was the knee or elbow from MJ in the Wolves game that took it's toll on Tmac. I think if we compared him to other players that play hurt or absorb contact he wouldn't be rated as one of the tough guys like Sura or Ming.
Guys actually if your back IS NOT slightly arched while doing a brench press your doing it wrong... My Wife has been a trainer for the past 9 years and has a degree in Kineseology with all the major national certs... From my wife "That is the correct way to do a bench bress and always make sure to initiate scapular retraction prior to the exercise to minimize the tendency to protract during the range of motion. Protraction leads to decreased tension in the pectoral muscle which defeats the whole purpose. Thus, as a result, the anterior deltoid may undergo synergistic dominance instead." Also I told her about T-macs speed during his workout and she said if he's training for power then that is the correct speed. P.S.. Guys if you ever need training advice let me know and I'll ask my wife Hey better than paying someone 80 dollars an hour
I didn't see anything wrong with his form. He was training for explosive power and not mass. A lot of people would be surprised to find out how many different yet all correct ways there are to weight train.
Ectomorph frame, small bones, weak chicken legs. Needs to eat VERY clean (60% carbs/40% protein) probably due to high metabolism.
i watched the video all over, all tmac's workout is divided into 2 parts, one is weight training, the other...i called jumping&running. forget the second part, i just wanna say sth about the weight training, some kinds of bodybuilding training, leg-press upside down, bench presses, t-bar rows, standing dumbbell lateral raise, seated leg extension,“preacher” incline curl, seated dumbbell press, sit-up...and so on, i think that's ok, especially for a basketball player, also the bodybuilders use swing move, cheat repetitions, watch ronnie coleman or jay cutler's training video, u will agree what i post, and the 1st set on leg press looked even like ken flex wheeler's tempo, not complete stretch...i dt think "fragile" is the proper word to describe tmac's physique, his shoulders and upper arms r awesome, i think there is one thing deeply in his body and mind, mental scruple...he is afraid of being hurt again, especially his back. at last i am a little confused about his weight trainning, "where is his training belt?!" that is what i want to ask his personal trainer, that is really not proper when u lift weights, that is dangerous!! btw, i happened to b shanghai bodybuilding champ when i was young...
Well, since you offered What should you do to gain weight and build muscle if you have a high metabolism?
