I just read this story on ESPN

    http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0805/1414521.html

Although it's mainly about Webber lying in front of the grand jury, Mo is mentioned...

Is Mo one of the "several others"? I'm hoping that he wasn't called to give evidence at the trial, but they dont mention in the article whether he said anything either way.

    Does anyone know any more?

Here is a more detailed article:

    <A HREF="http://www.detnews.com/2002/metro/0208/06/a01-554900.htm">Feds want Webber indicted for lying</A>

The article never really expands on the question of Taylor testifying to the grand jury and possible perjury. It does mention others who admitted to it. It is possible that Mo is one of the <i>others</i>.

I'm assuming that he's going to be OK, but it seems strange that he isn't mentioned either way, since he's the second highest profile guy mentioned.

We shall see. I think I'm going to try to find some reporting from the original trial...

So Mo testified, but what did he say?

kidrock8: I'm sure daylight robbery must be a federal offence:D

Sorry for the third post in my own thread, but I think I've found out the situation.

    From http://www.pub.umich.edu/daily/2000/jan/01-14-2000/news/5.html
It appears that Mo gave evidence, but we don't know what he said. Webber has publicly stated that he didn't take money (and is now likely to be indicted), Traylor and Bullock have publicly stated (through their lawyer) that they did.

I think that if Maurice denied taking the loan to the grand jury, he is also likely to be indicted. If he admitted to it, why hasn't he publicly stated that?

Did Webber say it publically. . or to the Jury . . .two different things

Lying to you and me is immoral but legal . . . lying to juries, officials, etc . . is illegal.

BTW, why are rules of the NCAA liken to laws?

    "Deny deny deny."

We'll see if it gets C-Dub into trouble; did anyone ever believe he wasn't paid lots of money while in college, when EVERY major university in America went after him?

I'm guessing Mo didn't say "Let me get 50 million dollars from the Rockets and then blow out my leg and collect the fat checks!" How can you accuse a guy of "stealing" money from the Rockets when he got injured working out in the offseason getting ready for a big year?
