Hey guys, I searched the posts and didnt see this, but in the chronicle today Ibelieve there is a mention of clutchfans in regard to Drexler Drexler debuts Clyde Drexler made his regular-season debut Wednesday night as Bill Worrell's broadcast partner for Rockets home games on FSN Houston. Drexler is, of course, a work in progress, which didn't stop posters on a Rockets fan site from pining for the day that Jon Barry retires so he can take over the analyst's chair. Technique and style are among Drexler's challenges. He must learn to crank up the volume, and he probably should speak in shorter sentences so the ebb and flow of normal conversation doesn't get drowned out by crowd chatter. He's probably too well-spoken for his own good. The primary challenge is being critical of players and coaches when warranted. He'll likely take his cues from Worrell until he becomes more comfortable with the medium and more comfortable with the idea of being a critic. That will keep Barry on the roster for at least a few more weeks. Link
heh, probably a safe bet to say it was clutchfans lol afterall what board has the sheer size to be recognized like clutch.
Nice! If this catches on, I soooooooo want credit! "I'm actually looking forward to John Barry retiring. He'll be a heck of a commentator, no?" Edited to add-- sorry, just now saw that this is also in the other thread. Thanks, Texas Stoke.
why did you wish him retiring early? as much as we all like his talks on interviews or for the opening speech don't you think this rockets need him more on the roster?
Yeah, this same topic was brought up on 610 this morning around 7:30ish. (Possibly spurred by the Chronicle article). They mentioned "clutchfans.net ... or whatever" by name
I think it's me... I made the comments about needing Jon Barry to retire in the "BRING CALVIN BACK" thread.
Beat you to it by about four posts! (Check out the thread from the beginning...) Just shows that great minds think alike... Actually, that's funny that we both independently had the same thought at the same time. Hmmm... Maybe we're really onto something. How funny would it be if we acutally had a petition to get Barry to retire? Oooh. Better idea. We've had Player/Coaches. Maybe Barry can be the first ever "Player Commentator." He still gets his 13 minutes a game, but when he's not playing, he hangs out with Bill Worrell and does commentary. When he is playing, he gets miked-up, kinda like Tony Saragusa in the NFL games." "Bill, my matchup with Sprewell isn't so favorable for the Rockets. Maybe I --- damnit! -- sorry, Bill, I just turned the ball over again. As I was saying, maybe I should be subbed out for someone with..."
