If you plan on going to that texaco at 9250 W BELLFORT ST which has regular at 2.26 be sure to bring cash. They don't accept CC. Also I'm not sure if I'd fill up there because the whole gas station just looks shady. I guess it couldn't be that bad could it?

    $2.75!! woohoo!!

With all this money I'm saving, I think I'll get the name brand cereal at the grocery store this week instead of the Malt-O-Meal brand...

Cheapest in my area is $2.64. :( Do you guys think this is the year we will see gas prices rise to $3+ a galon and stay close to that level? I mean we jumped to $2+ last year so why not one more this year?

    $2.02...

    in MT!

Closest to me I can find $2.71.

Tips: Bookmark this if you haven't already, and use zip codes around yours within reasonable driving distance! That's where I found the cheapest in my area.

    Thanks for the link, slickvik69!

Of course, you have to ask yourself what "reasonable driving distance" is.

For example, let's say that you spent $2.75/gallon last time at your usual place the last time you filled up, and it's the same price. Let's also say that you see another place that's $2.70/gallon that is 10 miles away. Let's also say your car gets 20 miles/gallon on average. So, you spend a half gallon of gas to get to the cheaper station, which is 1.37.

If you put 20 gallons in your tank at the $2.70 price, that's 54 bucks, as compared to 55 bucks if you had filled up at the $2.75 price, which is a dollar savings, so you basically lose 37 cents, because you spent $1.37 to get there.

I know it's just a hypothetical example and that there were a lot of what ifs, but unless you're saving 10 cents a gallon or more, I wouldn't drive more than a couple of miles for cheaper gas.

Also, when gas is expensive like this, I never fill up my tank all the way. There have been more than a couple of occassions that I filled up my tank only to have the gas drop in price the next day...

Y'all crack me up... you're rolling the dice on filling up gas, but I bet y'all wouldn't mind buying several pitchers of beer or cigarettes. :)

    I know, I know... priorities. :D
