This is my first Thread. This is Rox first Game. Don't be negtive eventhough we lose to Jazz. there are many things positive about this match. 1. Yao get his gear back. I can see yao leading us to victory in the future. all the concern about his performance last season is one time thing is gone. He is the NO1 center, i am glad we have him on our side. 2. T-mac is healthy for sure. He is adjusting and only will get better and better in the next couple of games. T-mac is the man for the clutch shot without a doubt. 3. Snyder is a great addition to this team. He will be a great Backup SF. 4. Steve Novak made his first 3 in this game. I believe he will make a lot more when he get more experienced. 5. Battier is Exactly the Man we need. He made 11 point in just 6 shots and will work much better with Yao. I am truly glad we had him on our side. 6. Bonzi did not even play. so did Howard and V-span. 7. Don't forget about Sura. 8. Losing first game usually is a good sign for the rox
Yeah, good point. The Rockets sure looked good the first game of last year. We know how that turned out. Thanks for this thread, by the way. I think some people are losing sight of the fact that there are 81 more games this season.
Thanks!! This game is like one of these games that nearly all the bad things happened to ROX. Yao get into foul troubles. T-mac losing his aim. Trun overs. Wrong decision in clutch time. their crazy shooting percentage.even the timing machine is not on our side.away court disadvantage. all the bad things happened in one game and what happened? we still have a big chance in turning this game over in the last couple of minutes. Just imagine only one of these bad things didn't happen....
the only thing positive was when I missed after I tried to shoot myself in the head. 0 - 82 the season is over.
Thank-You a positive thread. I was as dissapointed as everyone when i came home from school and read the box score but i also realised that its only the first game and a lot of things need to fall into place befroe we hit our straps. Firstly our chemistry couldnt be too good atm because we have a lot of new guys who are trying to find their feet here. And Secondly Bonzi hasnt played for us and he will make a huge impact coming off the bench especially when our scoring dries up. Finally we shot 45% tonight. Thats a very good sign and we hit 10-22 threes i think which ios also a very good sign. From what ive heard the jaz were HOT and its tough to beat ANY team when there hot. Moral of this post...STAY POSITIVE ROX FANS!
dude really like how you insert some positives into this forum. people are just too grumpy around here!!
If yao was a good a thing tonight, I would like to see more of a good thing. When you shoot 67% from the floor, you deserve more than 12 shots. Granted, he didn't help his cause by getting in foul trouble, but we still could have used him more. I also would have put in novak a little longer. He couldn't stop boozer, but no one else could anyway. Also, we really didn't do a good job of expoiting his bad defense.
You guys keep saying Yao was in foul trouble, but what does foul trouble have anything to do with giving him the ball on the offense? After all, Yao played almost 33 min.
I don't think anyone saying he didn't get the touches because of foul trouble really stopped to think before they posted.
I saw several positives tonight. Yeah you know we lost. But it was because shots wern't falling. I don't think that will continue. If we hit our open looks (I know we've said that before though) we'd have won tonight. And that's without us even playing defense. This team will get better defensively. You can bet that Gundy won't take that kind of effort on the defensive effort. Bonzi would have been huge tonight as well. We were missing that spark plug... Oh well 81-1 isn't a bad season guys ) Mike
Positive Things... - Seeing Yao and T-Mac on the court together again - Battier making defensive perimeter plays and hitting corner 3's - Yao showing no signs of foot problems. he looked active and aggressive when he got the ball - Snyder's ability to get to the rim - Novak hitting his first 3 pointer - Fighting back from a 20 point deficit to within 5 points - Not having to watch Ryan Bowen on the court
Negative things I found in Game 1: 1. YAO-horrible game. No aggression and slow to attack the basket. Don't throw 8 for 12 at me. Son, all that tells me is you had a big time mismatch on the offensive end. You should have went 13 for 25 with 14 free throw attempts. He crippled us by not being aggressive. If he had been more aggressive, both Okur and Boozer would have had their fannies sitting on the bench with even more foul trouble, not out there canning jumpers. When the refs are calling it so tight that when you breath on the guy, it is a foul, then you've got to force the issue offensively, and make the refs blow the whistle on your defenders. Sit them down, big fella. Not only that, but if you had taken it to the hole quickly and aggressively, then our shooters would have gotten much better looks and Rafer would have been 3 for 7 along with Novak being 3 for 5 instead of the sucky numbers they got. 2. TMAC-something ain't right with him. All his shots short and flat and his FT stroke has gone to Shaqville. He looks like he is gimping around out there. That's scary. 3. Van Gundy-what were you thinking leaving Hayes on the bench in the 2nd half? Wasn't it obvious he was our best matchup against Boozer? And Padgett? His D is so much better than Novak's???? Dude was toasted all night, getting out of position and then hopelessly trying to scramble back to bother Boozer. Dude, if you aren't gonna put Hayes out there to defend, then put Novak out there to shoot. He's a better shooter than Padgett by far, and Padgett sure ain't no defender. Good grief! 4. Lack of ball movement-Sorry, but our offense stunk. I don't care about 97 points. The ball was not moving quickly enough. Too much hesistation, too much waiting with the ball in hand instead of passing or moving with the dribble. If you ain't open for the shot, and you are a finisher, you'd better be looking for a lane to drive, and if the lane ain't there then pass dadamball. It don't take 3 seconds to figure out if you are open or can drive. Takes about .2 sec max. 5. The officials-Goodness gracious, 31 fouls in the first half. Then 16 in the 2nd half????? Ridiculous when the officiating dictates the whole flow of the ball game. They just cannot officiate Yao right. Not to mention they screwed Shane royally. 6. Our perimeter D-My god man. C.J. Miles, Derek Fisher, Deron Williams, and Ronnie Brewer lighting us up out there. All of them the smaller, shorter, quicker type guards. Do we have anyone that can D up out there against these type of guys? Because if they are going to light us up.......then what's gonna happen when we get to Ray Allen, Nash, Terry, and the like, guys that can really shoot it?? Another pathetic start to the regular season.
seriously...take that bs elsewhere. maybe you can also bring the vince young v. mario williams v. reggie bush v. trading down debate here too... the thread was created for positive stuff mr. hater. we don't need people who are ready to jump off a bridge after a horrible game 1. the rox played god awful and still had a chance to win late. that's my positive take on this game.
