This might seem like a lost season, but we are still very privileged to watch this team because of Roger Clemens and Craig Biggio. If you would've asked me 2 years ago if they'd be performing at this level at their ages, I would've said "no way". They continue to amaze me every time they step on to the field and that's reason enough to continue to watch. Roger has already transcended the Hall of Fame standard to reach the level of legend, and he just continues to build on it to the point where you could safely say he's one of the 10 best players ever. That alone should get you out to the ballpark, to see such a rare player still at the top of his game. As for Craig, this season has established him as a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. If he can keep this up for one more year, 3000 hits will be easy and you can start arguing that he might be the best 2nd baseman of all time. The fact that he has done all of this in one uniform makes it extra special. Your children's children might never see an Astro like Biggio. In closing, I don't think any season is lost as long as you have these two gentlemen on your team, as they are worth the price of admission alone.
Roger Clemens is amazing, but I think Craig's continued resurgence is the most pleasing thing to me this season. He took so much **** when he had those bad couple of seasons when his contract was huge. Then he signed that 3 mil a year deal, and people were still calling for his head, screaming about his defense (a good deal of which was justifiable) and whatnot. The guy just keeps on producing. He's always been one of my favorite Astros. He damn well better get into the HOF.
I feel for those two guys. I wish there was a quick fix where the season wouldn't be wasted. Won't stop me for pulling for them though.
I admit Biggio has played well. I was wrong. Hopefully, he can continue to play well. However, if we are starting over... and Burke is the future... shouldn't Burke be at second?
At this point, the Astros are not starting over. Perhaps there are some who think they should, but as proven last year, it is way too early to quit on this season.
Yeah those two guys are awesome, and I love 'em. But, the Astros SUCK, so I'm sorry to rain on the positiveness, but the Disastros will finish nowhere near 1st or 2nd.
We may have an offense that sucks, in fact we do. But we're in the worst division of all of baseball. Second place is a very attianable goal. The playoffs are not unless we replace Bagwell with a Todd helton and still add another bat. And no, Chris Burke is not that bat needed. He will be nothing more than an average 2nd baseman at best. None of his minor league stats jump out at you screaming all star.
