The Rockets have a trio of young players who in my opinion will have a chance at being the Rockets starting small forward next season. Obviously the Rockets could make a move and everything can change. But if not, they will have serious position battle. Obviously, Chandler Parsons coming off a very solid rookie season is the favor with Coach McHale, but who's to say Royce or Terrence couldn't take his spot in the lineup? With Royce you have a very versatile forward who brings a new dimension to the Rockets. A play making small forward who can do just about everything McHale can ask offensively. Morey and McHale are very high on him, in my opioion he has a solid chance to eventually win over the starting SF gig at some point of the season. Terrence Jones can play both SF positions, TJ is a blue collar guy who is a winner. Just won a national championship. He's a hard worker, can block shots, defend and is a team player. Like Patterson final season at UK, he took a lesser role when his team got better. He was looked at as lottery pick if he would have entered last season. Overall, I think it comes down to Royce and Parsons unless there is a trade. What do you guys think?
It should and rightfully so be Parsons' job, and he won't lose it. His handles and passing ability are the same as RW, with superior defense, and basically the same offense (albeit, less athletic ability). White will punish people on O, due to mismatches, in a way CP can't, but neither are great shooters. White will be a perfect 6th man, but if Dragic is here, and Lamb becomes a starter (which he will), White will not break tge SR, nor should he.
100% Parsons. Royce will take some time so find his niche in the league, but when he does he'll be a decent player. Jones is a 4, no need in entertaining thoughts of him doing anything else. My guess is Morris is gone. When we drafted him, I think the hope was he'd turn into a mismatch problem like White is, problem for Morris is we just got who we hoped he'd turn into.
Parsons for sure. Royce should be 2nd off the bench behind Parsons. Jones and Morris should be traded with Lowry and Martin for a legitimate center (we can all wish right?)
Parsons (hopefully with improved shooting %) w/ Royce White playing 10-15 minutes at the 3. I just don't see how Morris fits in, and T.Jones is NOT a SF. But again, who knows what our roster will look like by opening night.
Parsons has room to improve and he is already pretty good. Its gonna take a really good player to replace him. So he is your starter going forward. Its the reason they were so comfortable getting rid of Chase Budinger.
