Posey handles the ball exceptionally well for a small forward. So much so that Denver played him at point in the Summer Leagues two years back.

Francis wants to be a 2. I am going against the grain by saying Mobley is a great 2 who I don't want to trade. Could we not give Posey some chances at bringing the ball up court with Francis AND Mobley playing off the ball. I hesitate to say that that could be downright DANGEROUS!!!

No way do I want Posey bringing the ball up the court. I much prefer the way he played the last month of the season.

Shooting jumpers out to the arc when the defense rotates off of him.

Cutting to the rim and recieving a pass from Yao Ming for an easy lay-up or dunk.

Running the floor on a fast break and finnishing high above the rim for an acrobatic dunk.

The only way I would want Posey to bring the ball up the court is if he were instructed to push it up as fast as he could and pass it to Yao Ming before the shot clock got to the 20 second mark.

My guess is that Posey will be even more underutilized next year when we don't re-sign him.

posey may have an above average handle for a small foward, but to play the point you need more than just a nice dribble.

you need to be able to pass the ball.

posey is by far not a good passer.

in the last few months of this season we saw him bringing up the ball and steve and cat comming off down screnes. it didnt work that well then and its not an option for next year.

Posey is capeable of dribbling it up the floor but who isn't? Yao could if we wanted him to. The problem with giving Posey the ball is that he can't really take anyone to the basket off the dribble where as Steve and Cat can. This is why we give them the ball and let Posey play off of them. Also, Steve has never been the type of player to play off the ball and if we use him as such a player, he will never reach his potential. His strengths lie in making the defense react and being able to punish the defense for either playing on or laying off him too much.

Some of you keep bringing up playing Posey at the 2, but we rarely used him there. (well, not everyone.. but JP at the 2 keeps being brought up... "let's trade Cat and play posey at the 2!" and so on) Now we're mentioning him playing minutes at the point?

Crash described his play the last month or so very well. I would love to sign him starting at about $3 million a year (if we can get him that cheap!) for 3 years (no 6 year contracts!) and plug him into the rotation. He's the kind of role player we need. If he improves, then he gets more PT and gets rewarded with more $ later. Unless we aquire a better 3/(2?) in the offseason.

Anyone remember JP playing much and well at the 2 while we had him?? (I don't) Is he really an option there? Did he play a lot of 2 at Denver? Just been curious.
(man, I need some coffee... I'm ramblin' on...)

I'd want Mo Taylor bringing the ball up before Posey. Mo's got a better handle than Posey. J-Po's definitely not a very good ballhandler.

I love seeing Steve running the court (as rare as it is  ) with Posey sprinting up on the wing. Steve throws it toward the basket...

BAM! It's over. Spectacular Sportscenter 'oop by J-Po.

james posey was a natural 2 guard (or at least started every game at the 2 for the nuggets) before he got traded to houston.
