http://espn.go.com/nba/allstar/2003/news/2003/0209/1506533.html ATLANTA -- Ron Artest's season in the spotlight took another bizarre twist at All-Star Weekend, when the volatile Indiana forward and Houston's James Posey were involved in an altercation at the NBA Players Association's annual party, league sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein. Dallas' Nick Van Exel attempted to separate Artest and Posey, sources said. All three were forcibly removed from the party.
I hoped Posey kicked his ass, or else he can't play for the Rockets anymore. Too bad they don't play each other anymore... unless it's the Finals.
We need a mean player like Posey. I miss Elie and Max. Those guys didn't take any crap in the play-offs.
Ron Artest's got some serious problem. He needs to get some anger management counseling ASAP. Did Posey kick his ass?
If I had to put money on that one, I'd put it on Artest. Even if Posey's stronger and smarter, mad crazy always wins in a brawl. But is Posey getting a reputation for being a dirty player? I thought Bill Walton's comments during the Mavericks v. Rockets game were way off base. If I had to guess, it was probably Artest being his usual insane self and James refusing to back down. Way to go, Posey!
does anyone have the slightest idea what the fight was actually over? right now we're just guessing & poking fun at them (i like your comment AGBee), but i want the inside story on this one! Posey has a bigger set than i thought for taking on a man that is quite "mentally unbalanced". Maxwell was normally provoked into his rages, artest seems to be on a whole new level.
hmmmm... Posey was trying to start fights in that game a few weeks ago against Dallas. It could go either way.
They just announced on NBA 2 Night that Artest might not have been involved in the altercation. That's all they said.
i'd actually be surprised if Posey didn't get the hell kicked out of him if that fight actually happened. In all likelyhood it was just a punch or two before it was broken up, but Artest is 6'7 and weighs something like 230 or 240? he's strong as hell. it's sad that this kind of thing has to go on though, because i really love ron artest's game. it's a shame people as talented as him can't act civilized. he and rasheed wallace really disturb me. i mean there are players on every level that somehow manage to avoid fights, altercations with opposing coaches and breaking things and this guy can't even avoid it when they pay him millions of dollars. maybe i'm old fashioned, but it seems to me that part of their responsibility to their organization is being model citizens and reflecting the orginazation well. the more image problems associated with a franchise, generally the less revenue that franchise is going to take in from endorsements and such. it's just bad for business on top of being stupid....
Well said Doc. The LAST thing the Rox need is a punk right now. And Posey strikes me as a punk. I pray that I am wrong.
Posey: F*ck you, Artest! I'm the best 3 in the NBA! Artest: Hell no, how many cameras did you bust this year? Posey: That's it, I'm gonna f*ck you up! {Posey knocks out Artest with a jab, gets down on the ground and starts beating his ass.. Van Exel jumps in and kicks Artest in the face.} Van Exel: And don't be f*cking wit by homey b*tch!
Artest is one guy you dont wanna cross paths with on a bad day. He's from QB (Queens Bridge) one of the most notorious projects in the U.S., and its no walk in the park down there. Thats part of why he is the way he is. I've been down there a few times to visit some kinfolk.
