Very interesting article. Imaging if he was GM, you can kiss any trades with Portland goodbye!

Not sure Adelman fits the description according to Woj.:p If Rick wanted to be controlled, Rick stays with the Rockets!;)

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
With Paul Allen, Larry Miller and Vulcans, no GM will ever please them. They want a weak-minded person willing to be controlled. A waste.

“The way the talks went, I think I could have come back for a couple of years,” he says. “But they wanted to change a lot of things, including my staff. I didn’t see any reason for it. I couldn’t go back on the terms they wanted.”

What? No way Rick said this. Management would never want to do what Rick is claiming. People are just reading too much into it.

    Signed,
Posters that cannot believe a player like Martin would be snarky towards the removal of his leader.

Honestly, Rick wanting to be involved with the Blazers just shows how much Rick loves Basketball, something many of us questioned.

He's a hall of famer with a magic touch and has no need for moneyball stats telling him that if Vlade Divac plays for 96 minutes he will take 30 flops. Sometimes, Baskeball is simple.. Rick makes it simple and fun to watch. Togetherness. Play for each other. Win.

    Best of Luck Fuhrer.

Brad Miller for their 1st round pick.

    Fuhrer hates young blood.

I thought the Rockets just wanted to add Chris Finch on as an assistant. RA could have ensured that his staff still kept their jobs.

Instead, Adelman and his staff are all out of jobs.

That said, RA would never be the rebuilding coach that we need at this point.

he said in another article that he doesnt wanty to coach anymore.

it was pretty obvious to me this season that he doesn't care about coaching aymore. if he doesn't have a ready-made championship roster, he mails it in with a half-hearted effort and whines at management for making roster moves without his approval.

adelman is a good coach. not a perfect coach. he has an ego just like every other person in this business. he is human. everybody has their ideal work environment. when they are in their ideal environment, they thrive. rick's ideal environment is at the helm of a championship contender. rocket's current situation is not ideal for rick. therefore, rick is not the ideal coach for the rockets at this time.

Sounds like he just wants to work for the Blazers and doesn't care in what capacity. That would be cool to be a fan of an organization that high-quality people want to come work for again in any available position. Instead we have an organization that not even Rudy T wants to come back and work for. He'd rather scout for the Lakers than do anything for the Rockets (or maybe they don't want him back, which would be even worse). I mean how bad is it when "Rocket at Heart" Rudy T. doesn't want anything to do with you or you don't want anything to do with him?

Imagine this happening... Adelman becomes part of the Chicago coaching staff. In the offseason if Rip Hamilton is released/bought out from the Pistons/Cavaliers(this is from Cavs trying to get the 2nd pick), Chicago will now have a scoring threat in Rip who pretty much didn't play last year. Adelman offense with a Thobideau defense is just a nightmare for opponents but for a basketball fan like me it's like jizzing in my pants!

atleast you acknowledge that adelman is better suited as an offensive coordinator rather than a head coach. i agree completely. he would be excellent in that role.

but he has made it clear - with his butting heads with morey, and now inquiring about the gm job in portland - he wants complete control over his roster and doesn't really care for coaching anymore. this was obvious to me even before this season ended. good luck to rick as gm. but i think he is going to be in for a shock when he finds that the team owner may not agree with his personnel plans...

The way the Blazers are going through GM's, I doubt too many people are breaking down the door of this "great" organization. Getting ready to their 3rd one in 1 year.
Also, who says that Rudy T doesn't want to work for the Rockets in some respect or vice versa? Show me a link to either case.
