Geez, have you guys looked at their Roster? Including this draft; in the last 3 drafts they have added Oden or Oden (2007 #1 pick), Roy (2006 #6 pick), Aldridge (2006 #2 pick), and Weber (2005 # 6 pick).

Let's not forget that they also have Randolph, a 20 pt and 10 rebound power forward.

And I'm kind of glad it's shaping up this way. Because if you look at their Roster, they need a Small Forward more than they need a Center. They already have Aldridge and Randolph playing up front. And Right now they have Miles playing SF, but imagine if they were able to add Durant there.

And then that would mean that Seattle gets just what it lacks, a dominant center. By adding Durant, your adding another Small Forward to your roster. And that happens to be the same position their all-star Small Forward Rashard Lewis plays. Rashard Lewis a Rocket? MAYBE!!!!

Ideally, Portland needs Durant and Seattle needs Oden.

But as a Rocket Fan, and fellow western conference member, I'd rather they not get what is ideal for them.

Well, since Portland already said they were going to take Oden, your point is moot. I think Portland will make a deal involving Randolph.

Only time will tell if they turn all that talent into actual success, though.

portland has NOT said they were going to take oden. i have been saying this for a while now: kevin pritchard wants durant. i have heard two radio interviews where he was obviously leaning towards durant.

not saying that he won't take oden, but it is definitely not a given. in fact, just this morning i heard a report that portland has still not come to a decision on the pick.

Portland will take Oden. Trying to unload Randolf will be difficult given his salary and somewhat checkered past - even though I'd take him.

My hope is that they can't move him and have to move someone else like LaMarcus Aldridge...to the Rockets (though realistically we don't have enough peices to complete that deal since Moochie is gone).

According to Ric Bucher the Blazers have notified Oden's people he will be their pick.

I don't think ESPN would have plastered the story all over their front page for the past two days without having some credible info on the situation. Ric Bucher is usually pretty reliable.

Of course Pritchard is going to deny the report. GM's, as a general rule, don't like any info about potential draft picks being leaked to the press, even one as obvious as this.

I don't think Oden will put them over the hill just yet. This is still the Western Conference. Some guys named Yao, Amare, Duncan, Boozer, and Nowitzki are still around...

I would bet money that it isn't wrong in this instance. In fact it is right more often than not. Reporting rumors and speculation about possible trade deals is one thing - it's being reported expressly as rumors and speculation. This is something else entirely. If Bucher - who is a respected NBA writer- reports that this happened than I don't see any particular reason to be distrustful because he works for ESPN.

Now I don't agree with everything ESPN does or says, but I don't ever recall them having a "dewey defeats truman" moment where they reported somethng as news (rather than just opinion, hype, or speculation) and been completely wrong. It might have happened in the past, but I can't remember it if it did.

Totally random thought, but I saw Chris Bosh yesterday at the DFW airport. Dude makes millions a year and he drives a freaking Nissan, go figure.

Really? Well you must have been in cincinatti, watching local TV station WLWT, which was the outlet that first reported that story.

My post referred to ESPN, not WLWT.

    Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and Portland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Portland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Because if you look at their Roster, they need a Small Forward more than they need a Center.

Does Portland have enough cap room to sign Rashard Lewis?
