I won't be surprise if he voices his concern of not getting any touches this season, because if the first two games are of any indication, he'll be regretting that he left the Rockets. The poor man is asking for the ball, and they rarely give it to him. And when they do, he's out of position or time is running out. So far, he's looking good. It's so sad right now that the man had to restuff a a pair of shots against Orlando and Miami to see how the ball feels like. And when was the last time we saw Dream restuff a pair of shots? I don't know, maybe Lenny is still angry about the 96 Olympics when Dream was complaining about his limited playing time compared to Shaq and Robinson, which was true by the way. Sad to say, but Dream looks confused. It seems like he's about to pick off Carter than the man that is guarding him. Defensively, still looking good. Nice rejection on Grant in the first quarter. Hate to say this, but maybe Dream should have stayed in Houston and enjoyed a comfort zone already established. Oh well, Rocs are doing fine without him so far.
When Dream first went to Toronto, I planned on rooting for him in every game except vs. Houston. Watching him look frustrated makes me smile...its sad to say. I don't know how much Toronto will appreciate him speaking up about touches etc... In Houston, Dream was Dream so everyone listened. It's only his second regular season game with the Raptors so we shall see what happens.
Unfortunatly, all of this is true. With the Miami-Toronto game just ended with a loss, the Raps are 0-2, then again, its early in the season and this was a back to back. I really do hate to see Olajuwon look confused but, I still have all the respect in the world for him and HE IS what this franchise is today PERIOD!
Now that the shock of Dream wearing another uniform is over, I wish him the best. Good luck Hakeem. See you in the Finals!
Someone on the team needs to tell him to wear black knee & elbow pads. White knee & elbow pads don't go very good with the Raptors jersey.
I don't feel sorry for him - he wanted a new situation and a long term contract and he got everything he wanted. I have a bit of pity for Marc Jackson, all rook first team last year and his team re-signs him, but doesn't have any playing time for him. Of course a six year twenty four million contract tempers any feeling of sorrow for him.
He isn't getting the ball as much as he'd like, but he is getting it. He had his chances, and made some nice plays and a really nice spin move on Grant. You have to think about the offense on that team. Carter is obviously your first option (there's a HUGE chunk of the offense), then you also have Antonio Davis who commands some touches, Alvin Williams who is a nice shooter, Mo Peterson is another good offensive player, not to mention Keon Clark. There really isn't a lot of offense for Hakeem left. That offense runs through Vince, and will as long as he is there. Hakeem cannot have the attitude that it should run through him. Otherwise, we have the same situation he was in with Houston. Any guesses on how long it will take for him to complain about touches?
I watched part of the Toronto game last night. I must admit I was upset with Dream as he ran down the court. When he was in Houston, he barely walked. I was laughing as he ran up and down without being part of the offense or defense. He seemed out of sync with his teammates. He would have been more involved in Houston.
hahaha...that Dream pic could be featured in a caption game: Hakeem Olajuwon sees no "Rockets" on the scoreboard and a 13 point Miami lead and it hits him - why did he leave Houston?
Actually, I think somebody needs to get a picture of Grover off Sesame Street with his mouth open and put it next to the pic above... I swear I see a resemblance!
I think you have to remember that Hakeem needs more than a couple of weeks to get back into form. Not only does he play himself into shape over the season - but the team is still earning to play with each other. The Raptors were much more fluid and organized in their win over the Mavs on Saturday than both the Orlando and Miami games put together. It's one thing to b**** how no one is giving him the ball - but they were playing lousy as a team and were very unorganized. I would think that checking a Raptor game in December would give you a better idea - isn't it a bit much to expect perfrection right out of the gate with a new team after spending 17 years with your only other coach? Lanny has let him play and they are going to him more and more with each passing game. He and Dais are just beginning to get used to one another in the frontcourt and only now is the rest of the team starting to understand how to use Hakeem. The Raptors have never had someone who can do inside what Hakeem can - even at 39.
What's the over/under on the number of games it will take for Dream to start pouting and complaining about not getting the ball enough?
Dream does not like wearing black attire. He doesn't wear black shoes and made the team change last year when he came back from injury as he was team captain. I don't know why this is but players do strange things sometimes.
Olajuwon told the Toronto Sun. "Now I can focus on playing basketball." But did'nt he say FOCASS on playing basketball.
