I definitely would have said no last season but sadly Francis has been deteriorating (off and on the court) with no signs of improving. Cassell on the otherhand is having one of his best seasons ever. He's just playing great basketball, is very consistent, and I believe he'd leave the Rockets to at least the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs. I'd do it.

I still consider Francis one of my favorite players and I hope he does improve but its looking bad right now.

Cassell might be a better player right now, that is up for debate. Unfortunately, Cassell is 5 years older than francis, Cassell probably only has one or two good years left. Francis, on the other hand, has at least 7 or 8 good years left, so I would keep francis unless we get a player with a similar skill level and similar age.

I admit I'd be willing to ponder all sorts of trades for Steve but Cassell is not worth Steve.

Throw in Garnett and I'm in.

Wish Cassell and Olajuwon had a better relationship when they were teammates. Olajuwon never really liked Cassell because he would talk 100 miles a minute no matter what. Cassell's been a consistently good player that's always had one of the best midrange jumpers. Dunno what his salary is, but it'd have been nice to have him on the team. I don't think trading Francis is worth it considering the age discrepency but he'd be an ideal fit at the PG position for the Rockets. Just someone that can punish you all night with the midrange jumper and drop dimes consistently every single game. He's a crafty player because he's not that athletic. He barely even leaves the ground when he shoots his jumper, and I can't recall him ever dunking much if at all, but he just gets the job done, is clutch, and an all around nice guy. Not once have I heard any controversy surrounding him other then he talks a lot.

If Cassell were the player he is now... but 5 years younger... sure. But as things stand - no.

No way. If we should trade steve, it should be for a more distributing point gaurd, not another shooting gaurd forced to play point gaurd. Actually Sam is decent for a PG but still.

The way Minnesota is playing right now. I don't think the wolves even would want to trade Sam for Francis. Their chemistry is burning hot right now up there.

    No-- age discrimination.

But imagine if Cassell had been here all these years and he was running the point with SF at the two-guard... with Mobeley coming off the bench.

Horry could have been our small forward-- great D and 3-point shooting... and clutch play (for some reason).

    There I go again...

I wouldn't because Cassell is so much older. I still really like Cassell, though...

It's a shame Steve is starting the All-star game over Sam we he is destroying him in almost every category this season.

I thought about the age thing, but then I thought, do we expect Steve to be where Sam is when he's 5 yrs older?

I'm using 5 cuz I thought that was when he started to mature. That's why I said if Steve were 5 yrs older and not he's the same age as Sam.

No, because I don't think we should trade Steve. If we did trade him, I'd love to get my namesake back. He's progressed this year, while Francis has taken a step back.

I would if they were the same age. I love Sam. He is a Rocket at heart.
