Biden won it. Failin held her own because she ran away from the question so she doesn't look as big an idiot as she would have.
Some one on CNN just said that Palin helped herself by showing that she is not as stupid as people have made her out to be, but she didn't help Mccain out in this election.
I love it.....this is just like the CNN poll. And I always find it funny how the left used the "unexpected" or "better then expected" angle to try and defuse the fact that they were wrong.
Uh - nobody was wrong, genius - in fact I predicted this exactly earlier today. Not only did she do what I said, and didn't answer the questions, she actually SAID she wouldn't answer questions. See here: Get a clue. The only ones expecting her to go deer-in-the-headlights like she did with Katie were the nervous nellie - right wingers who wanted her to resign last week.
Palin seemed to stick to some preset attack messages and didn't really answer some of the questions. Gwen, they hate us for our freedoms!! (errr... okay W) She even admitted to not answering questions because she apparently decided to use the debate to make her points because the American people don't like gotcha media even though it is a debate. (WTF?) Biden was certainly more knowledgeable and kept the focus on McCain as he should have. No off color jokes from Biden and he looked quite comfortable on stage whereas Palin had a deer in headlights look a little too often. Advantage Biden.
moose in the headlights? But seriously, I thought she got more and more comfy. The only look thing she does that drives me crazy is she'll finish off an "answer," then set her jaw and open her eyes as wide as possible. It's like she's about to cross-check someone into the boards! Keep your stick down!
Of course Palin looked more comfortable-- she just didn't answer any questions to which she didn't have a prepared response. She realized that saying anything is better than freezing, but that was just a terrible performance. What's your position on bankruptcy reform? "I wanna talk about taxes!"
I thought Biden outplayed her by using facts, experience, and numbers to support his points, and by actually answering questions. Palin seemed to harp on the same issues over and over, use the words "Maverick" and "darn" about a million times too many, and duck questions (even alluding to this fact herself). And I'm sorry, but it bugs the hell out of me when someone who is in such a high position in our country can't even say "nuclear" correctly. It's not that hard.
FAILin won based on the "oops i crapped my pants" curve Joe was rock solid though outcome: FAILin did not influence any new voters, just allayed the concerns of those already voting for her... Biden prolly stole some undecideds with his, y'know, actually addressing the questions n' stuff
Well politics won that is obvious. I would like to meet Obama and Palin. Talk them in to going to a Rocket game and talking religion afterwards. I wish those two would visit my church, I think they are both the kind of people who would do much better staying away from Washington. I think the democratic and republican parties are ruining these elections.
The ridiculous, virtually unprecedented attack on Palin set this up. I have never seen such a media frenzy over a VP candidate. Expectations were so low that she appeared to hit a home run. Biden probably had more factual substance, but, clearly, she was the "political" winner. It was an intriguing debate; I really liked the format. I don't think there will be much of a change in the poll numbers. McCain must run the table or he is toast. And, yes, I think there will be some sort of "October Surprise." But who will it help? This board leans so to the left. Very little objectivity (except people like me of course). Surprising for a sports board. You would expect more "Joe Sixpack" responses, but they are rare. I would really like to know the demographics of this board.
and i find it hilarious that the Right's definition of a Palin victory was by her "not sucking." but you know, 0 is greater than all negative numbers, so there you go.
