Bob Sura. First of all, he's earned the starting spot. Secondly, Mike James is more of a scoring point guard, so he's better coming off the bench. That being said, I'm sure there'll be plenty of times we see Sura and James together in the backcourt.
Can't decide after two games, but if james is playing like this or even half as good as tonight..........sorry bobby, but you're coming off the bench.
I think over the long haul, Sura will prove to play better with the starters. James can be that instant offense off the bench. It's hard to complain after watching tonight's game, but I'm pretty sure David Wesley would agree--it seems like everytime I turned around he was wide open for a three.......and the pass never came to him.
I haven't watched either of the games, because I live in New York, but if James scores like his stats show, and if he defends as good as people say he does, why not move him to shooting guard, and put Wesley on the bench. Just have him and Sura handle the ball, and you can switch the defensive matchups to your likings.
This is going to be a tough decision. But I'm sure Sura will be starting, he's the one that gets everything started. Plus, I think James would be much better coming off the bench than Sura. MJ is a better shooter and can provide a real spark along with Barry, Deke, and Padgett.
who starts not important. Both guys have very similar skill sets. Either one of them come off the bench will give us decent prodcution
Finally a good problem to have at PG. James kicked butt vs. the Bulls. Luckily we will have the chance to see him tested over the next 3 or 4 games.
I am going with Bobby still on this one, I dont like the idea of a person losing their starting role because of injury. They earned the role and they should keep it unless they start playing subpar. James has had 2 great games so far, but they've only been 2 games ppl. Give Sura the role back when he comes off the IR and then see. I think the reduced minutes will help sura and prevent any further flare ups while still having him be effective on the court. right now the rockets are desperately missing the rebounding that sura brings and it shows. but i will say this if james is this good well our pg problems are solved for this year and the next year now its just the 4.
Mike James starts, though Sura prob gets more minutes (if i was coach). Sura would be the key sub for the pg and sg positions and both players would average around 28-30 mpg if i was coach.
Sura has earned the starting spot, and shouldn't be regulated to the bench because James was picked up after Sura was injured. If James keeps this up while Bobby is out, then you start them both, and bring Wes off the bench. Oh, and I disagree that they have similar skill sets. They may both be shooting guards at heart, but Sura brings intangibles to the table that James hasn't shown yet. James is a better shooter, unless Sura is just hot. He may be a better passer, but I haven't watched him in enough games. Hell, I'd start them both, and throw out the labels. Wesley is a great energy/scoring option off the bench. I think it would work.
First, I can't imagin James continuing to play this good. If he was THIS good, then he'd be a starter earning a lot more. He is on a role. But if he is half this good... Well Sura is a natural 2 guard and has played 2 guard his entire career (until this point last season), then why not play Sura at 2? That leaves Wesley on the bench which I don't have a problem.
WHOEVER CAN GET THE MOST REBOUNDS!!! Bob will start overall for the rest of the season, but may come off the pine untill he gets his legs back...
I think JVG will start Bob either. First Bob prove he is the man for a long run than MJ. sencond, his rebound is what JVG like. And Bob is more willing to attack basket than MJ.
I think they complement each other pretty well in the backcourt, but I think Wesley will stick in the starting lineup. James can shoot the lights out, and Sura will hit the boards. James was coming off the bench all season, and came off the bench for Detroit. The only time in his career he's been a starter was Boston- that said, if this performance keeps up, that's hard to ignore. I expect them to be in the backcourt together for significant amounts of time- those 2 and TMac on the perimeter together will be something to watch. Sure is a lot better problem to have than the Ward/Lue garbage at the beginning of the year.
