i voted for Garnett. he deserved it last year. but this year he finally got some help, and look how good his team is playing. he is a great player. is that picture of MVP candidates? why is Yao on that list? he is in no way a candidate for MVP. i hope he will be in a couple of year. but now there are alot of players who are better

Do you see the pic above. It's from MSNBC. They put Yao in 4th place. So I just set my options according to it.:)

When I think of the MVP, I interpret it literally - as in , "which player is most needed by his team in order to succeed?" With that in mind, I try to imagine how well the teams would perform without that player....

Without Garnett, the T-wolves would still get some wins with Spree and Sam

Without Shaq, the Lakers still get wins with Kobe (and vice versa).

Even Yao (and don't take this as Yao-bashing)... without Yao, the rockets would still get some wins.

Honestly, I think the team/player combo that would suffer most would be Pau Gasol and the Grizz. Memphis would struggle more than anyone else if Pau wasn't able to play. In my book that makes him MVP.

..But, the MVP has become more a beauty contest anyway.

It's KG. LeBron should get some serious consideration as well

Not yet. But I'm sure he need and will be a tough rebounder in near future.

Isn't it league MVP, though. Which player is most important to league from a playing the game standpoint? In which case it certainly isn't Pau Gasol - and not just because he wouldn't win any beauty contests. His game is just nowhere near as refined as Kevin Garnett. He is like a KG light...superlight.

KG is the most versatile, talented, dominant player in the league - especially when you take into account his defense.

It's impossible to tell how any team would do without its star. We can hypothesize. But while we're at it, though, myswell say how would the Grizzlies be if they had KG instead of Pau Gasol - in my opinion they would be where the T-Wolves are now and if you put Gasol on the T-Wolves they would be where the Grizzlies are now. I think the Grizzlies are a better team if you replace Pau with KG, Duncan, Shaq or even Yao. I certainly don't think the reverse is true.
