Which of the professional leagues' drafts do you follow the most closely? As in you know most of the prospects, you will watch all the coverage, etc, etc... Being a basketball forum, I expect it to be kind of skewed that way (also because it's shorter, less prospects to choose from, etc), but I think the NFL draft is also really entertaining because there are so many trades, potential "steals", first round reaches...
The NBA has the best draft. The NFL should have the best one for all the reasons that you've listed, and the fact that it's the most popular sport. But I really can't watch a draft where they pick 4 guys an hour. Cutting the time in half to 7-8 minutes per pick would be huge, and make the product a thousand times better.
Traditionally the NFL. We see those guys play for 2 years in college and its exciting to see where they land. In the NBA you get foreigners, high schoolers, and bench players (Maggette) coming out who we've never heard of much less seen play.
Nothing like the NFL Draft, 200 players to scout and you can never predict past the top 10. Plus the anticipation builds up for weeks on end. I love it. The NBA draft is cool too, the lottery part I like.
i like the NBA draft because they only have two rounds. The first round is five minutes, and the second round is two minutes. The NFL needs to cut the first round to 12 or ten minutes. MLB doesn't broadcast it. Plus, you wouldn't know who these high school kids were. You may know a few college kids. The NHL draft...I don't know these 17 year old kids, or these europeans. There was a time when the NBA was like the NHL, A bunch of high school kids, and european names you couldnt pronounce.
NFL is best to watch. It's fun to see where guys you've watched a few years go and you can see where guys at your school end up at. In the NBA the majoirty of colleges might produce a player just every few years. But I like to go look back at NBA Draft history more. It's fun to see where players could have landed and play games in your head. Plus the Lotto is something to see its where some franchises catch their break and others miss out again.
I've been a passionate draftnik for both the NFL and the NBA. I give preference to the NFL because I've been following it longer and it's easier to know something about who is available and why might want them. There's a cottage industry there. The NBA draft is still fascinating, but when you've never heard nor seen half of the first- and second-rounders it becomes kind of pale. I still watch for sure because of the drama.
This poll is obviously gunna be towards the Basketball side... go post the same poll on a texans or an astros board and youll get different answers... but ya, i chose nba... mlb drafts suck. i dont really follow football, but the draft is aite...
NFL. Not even close. Too many unknowns in the NBA draft. Outside the top 10 players, I've pretty much never heard of anyone. And like someone else said, too many high school kids and euros. I don't really follow college basketball that much. With the MLB, even the top pick you probably won't hear from for several years. NFL is great because there are usually still impact players in the late rounds.
All things being equal, the NFL draft. But really, it almost entirely depends on how high my teams pick. The higher the Rockets pick, the more interested I am in the NBA draft. Same for the NFL draft and the Cowboys for me.
The NFL draft is like a novel and the NBA draft is like a short story. I'm one of those draft nerds that watches all 27 hours of the NFL draft and then gets the UDFA updates. I figure I'm probably nuts but hey, you like what you like.
NFL. With the influx of foreign and high school players, I don't know over half the players selected now in NBA draft now.
I follow basketball before any other sport. I only watch the first couple NFL picks. I don't watch any of the others.
bigtexxx, Buck Turgidson, Cesar^Geronimo, ichiro, and Mr. Brightside are clearly into self-flagellation.
