Just go with what's working. No need to change it.

That’s like asking who should be starting next season. There is a lot of time between now and then. Right now we are doing pretty good, so why change. We could trade major pieces, people could get hurt, someone can break out. Who knows?

Starting lineup is fine. What I would like to see is a Fred, Reed, Amen, Tari, Jabari unit get some run.

....this team is so wildly inconsistent it feels like you have to start the game with your highest ceiling offensive guys and see who is hitting shots and then the rest of the game is structured around supporting them with your rotating defensive units. The odds are low that guys like Amen or Tari are going to carry us offensively night to night so you start with Fred/Jalen/Dillon/Alpi/Jabari and search for where your best opportunity to score might be coming from. I know Jalen is the poster boy for inconsistency, but ALL those guys share in the exact same problem. Even Alpi has been frankly below average as a post scorer this year.

I'd start Tari over Jalen right now and move Brooks to the 2. Jalen needs the lesson right now, Brooks deserves to keep starting and keep doing exactly what he's doing. I don't think it would make our offense much worse but we'd improve the defense and rebounding maybe to a generationally elite level.

Very tricky situation with Amen because his only weakness is shooting and that's the majority of the team's problem right now. Otherwise he's been a top 2 player all season and deserves to start too. Maybe we're so bad at shooting it doesn't really matter how bad we get anymore lol who knows.

I get your point. To me it's two things: Balancing development vs playoff aspirations and getting Jalen in a position to succeed. I'd like to see him coming off the bench as I do think Sengun and him are not a good match. You could argue that neither is Amen and Sengun, but why not give it a try? I'd like FVV and Jabari to be the spot up shooters and let Amen do his magic on defense and transition.

I also agree with the other guy that it is too soon to make the decision. I'm just bored with all the other discussions and especially all the sh**ting on our own players.

I think literally for no other reason than because he can't shoot well and we need better shooting for the starters who are overwhelmed with the the 3PT shots they need to shoulder right now with Jalen taking 7-8 per game. Too big a risk to just see how that would go. The signs are not good.

I also genuinely don't think Amen will do well with the starters, it's a nightmare getting to the basket. Right now he's doing a great job getting to the line 4 times a game in just 28 minutes IIRC but those opportunities to run the offense and get to the basket will be fewer with the starters. He's going to be in the dunker's spot or corner 3 a lot of the time and that's not the best use of Amen.

I think if Amen starts Jalen would have to sit right now, however by the end of the season I bet Jalen will be shooting the same as Brooks on higher volume and will win that spot back pretty quickly. Ultimately I think we start Amen/Green at SF/SG I just wish Green and Sengun had made better progress on their 3PT shot over the summer.

I think Amen is getting frustrated. He is the second best player on this team. Jalen has been gifted minutes from the beginning. You can only be the good soldier for so long. If Ime is really about production and not politics he needs to get Amen in the starting line-up. We are pretty good, but pretend contenders this year. Everything we do should be to position ourselves to be championship contenders either 1 or 2 years from now (since there is not going to be a decent trade for a star this year). FVV and Dillon, are and have always been stopgap vets. To be truly competitive next year and beyond, we have to develop/assess our young core against starters.

we could always get rid of the best player, then Amen would be the first best player on this team. Then he probably won't be frustrated.

I think a lot of the playing time is based simply on optics. The two players most deserving of getting moved out of the starting lineup are Jalen and Brooks. One was one of your big free agent signings who has nearly 3 years left on his contract, and the other was a top draft pick who just got a sizable extension. I don’t think either of those players are losing their spot this year without a massive cratering that seriously affects our record (like bad play in correlation with a 10-game losing streak).

Tari and Amen deserve the chance to start, but until Brooks and/or Jalen get traded, I don’t see that happening. And I think they would be the hardest two players to move right now. Maybe that will change between now and the break.

    Jalen?

I think you misspelled our worst offensive player. Brickari.

Brooks is shooting 40% from 3 and playing exceptional defense. He is one of the team leaders in net rating and +/- IIRC.

More like FVV, Jalen and Jabari are struggling too often.
