Within the midst of an election year, I thought it would be interesting to see a number for vaious political views and the motives behind them. This is just for fun, everyone's opinion matters!

    We are all moderate.

We just disagree on what that means.

Independent. It means I'm not a Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal or moderate. For a lot of reasons, I don't identify with any of those groups or labels.

    Other, please explain.....

    No party affiliation.....very much independent.

In the past voted mostly democratic and other parties, occassionally republican, if candidate really stands out, I can go either way. Don't really care people vote or not that is there business...besides if the public votes somebody who is totally incompetent or corrupt, who fault is that. There is a write-in section on most ballots....so. IDK.

I believe less fiscal spending (federal/state/local), probably socially liberal (don't care about abortion, gay marriage, stem cell research, and etc).

Not at all environmental conscience, like I don't really think Global Warming is a big deal at least not to the earth. Don't separate trash, waste of time.

I am for much much much less taxation (especially, whenever possible, even it means cutting social welfare and foreign aid. Maybe, if I got more of my own money from taxes, I could save some for retirement on my own and pay for medical bills/insurance (just think about it).

I don't believe compulsory education is "to end to be all." Especially public cause has proven itself to be generally headed down the toliet in drain, as high water river. If parents want to give their kids a tutor, send them to odd community school, or teach on their own...that is their business. It's not like public school has some kind of magical remedy...most of the stuff you learn at school, you could pretty learn on your own, anyway. Just open a book.

I feel the same way about:
child rearing (as long as it doesn't go overboard), parental rights, drinking laws (should be 18), going into adult shops/strip clubs (when you turn 17 or 18, whocares it's not like watching naked woman or buy some sex toy is going to hurt) , drugs, and prostitution.

I was going to say "moderate" but I'm not even really sure what that means anymore in the current political climate. I would say I am "pragmatic" in that I'm generally in favor of results driven approach for compromise but given potential disasters we face regarding issues of national security, rights and the environment I'm not really sure about that either anymore.

technically independent, but definitely not moderate.

I'm generally socially liberal and fiscally conservative. By socially liberal - that would align with a liberaterian agenda. And while I believe in free markets and such, I do think the gov't has a necessary role to play in ensuring people are protected.

Outside of that, I think we need to cut the deficit, clean up the environment, and get out of Iraq.

I also think we need more nuclear power plants, and a tough foreign policy but also a kinder side we can show as well.

I don't agree with tax increases, but don't want tax decreases right now either. Just leave it as it is, and find ways to cut spending - particullary Iraq. While Social Security shouldn't be privatized, i do support school voucher programs and radical reform of our public education system which i feel is failing too many young folks. I also think alternatives such as vocational school should be offered to high school student who are not passing.

I am a conservative, because I believe that man cannot be made better by government interference.

So do you believe there should be no government interference?

Everything in life is a degree thing, the trick is how to find the right balance.

No. I recognize the necessity of government to provide some services. And I'm also a gradualist. For example, I understand that it took 90 years to develop a centrally planned economy, and that we only get it back to a competitive one a piece at a time.

Fiscally conservative, socially moderate-to-liberal. For example I support gay marriage but I'm against hate crime legislation, so it depends on the issue.

As for why I'm a fiscal conservative, I believe that the government is usually a problem, not a solution. The private sector has its faults, but it's 100 times more efficient than a bloated bureacracy could ever hope to be. What frankly amazes me is that while most Americans would agree that the federal government has screwed up Social Security, Medicare, public education, border security, and energy policy, we're actually sitting here debating about handing over health care to the same collection of incompetent, corrupt politicians.

Regarding party affiliation, I no longer consider myself a Republican since the GOP doesn't seem to be interested in fiscal conservatism. I'll gladly jump back on the bandwagon if they get their crap together, but that's gonna take a good house cleaning first.

If I had a dime for everytime I've heard this lately, I'd have a lot of dimes. I think this sentiment is really pervasive and does not bode well for the GOP in November.

People, do you understand me now,
If sometimes I feel a little mad
Don't you know no one alive can
    Always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem a little sad
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

You know sometimes, I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
Sometimes seems that all I have is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

If I seem edgy, I want you to know
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has its problems and I get more
    Than my share
But that's one thing I never mean to do
    I don't mean it

People, don't you know I'm only human
Don't you know I have faults like any one
But sometimes I find myself alone regretting
Some little thing; some foolish thing
    That I have done,
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
    Don't let me be misunderstood
I'm just someone whose intentions are good
    Don't let me be misunderstood,
    Don't let me be misunderstood
