Weezer is emo? Radiohead is Alt? Franz is indie? there so much I don't understand about the complexities of rock music genres. I need to ask my girlfriend I guess. HAHA I WENT OUT OF MY WAY TO SAY I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND! EDDIEWASSNUBBED NOW YOU AIN'T ****.
Hard to pick a favorite, when I wake up in the morning I'm sure I'll want to change it, but for now I'll say it's a tossup between Our Lady Peace and Live.
Local bands are the best. Voxtrots my fav at the moment. Where's the Creed/Nickelback/Fallout Boy option for people who suck and keep it dialed on 104/94.5 in houston? 106.9 baby!
My favorite band of all is Our Lady Peace. I wish they wouldn't have taken so damn long to release H.I.P.T. though. I think it's a good album, but for how long they made us wait, I honestly expected better. Anyway... I picked Emo, although alternative is a close second. Here's a sample of what I listen to these days (artist/song): Saosin - "Bury Your Head" Panic! At the Disco - "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" Circa Survive - "The Great Golden Baby" My Chemical Romance - "Thank You For The Venom" Silverstein - "Call It Karma" Neverending White Lights - "The Grace"
Damn, I love Voxtrot. They are classified under twee rock, similar to Belle and Sebastian. Didn't have enough poll options.
dear diary, youre the only one who gets me... my soul is a dark abyss of lonliness... i must be emo... http://www.nearlygood.com/video/mustbeemo.html Hilarious and true. Alkaline Trio is the only technically by lyrics """emo""" band that I still listen to. The lyrics arent gay emo, the vocals arent whiny and they just rock out in general.
If I had to pick a favorite I would say Classic rock. And what's up with Led Zepelin being listed as heavy metal? A couple of weeks back they were talking about that on 96.7 and I was amazed that people considered them heavy metal.
I think it is a crime that Sum 41 be inluded in Punk Rock. They are pop, and faux punk. They wish they were punk, but they are a boy band with distortion.
Where's Glam rock? In all seriousness, I grew up in the 70's listening to Pink Floyd, Kansas, Styx, Rush, War, Fleetwood Mac. My Dad had a sense of humor and bought Richard Pryer, George Carlin, David Frye, and this one album called Cledus Maggard and the Citizens Band Radio (crazy ****). I loved most of the rock in the 80's and really love the Seattle sound of the early/mid 90's. I have listened to more sports radio than any music (in the last 5 years), because my drive to work is short. Has anyone else heard of Cledus Maggard. This CB fan has some mad rhymes.
Mr. Brightside, you should know better than to try and have people on this bbs classify their musical tastes. It's a recipe for disaster. Anyway, All Time Favorite Band: The Police Current Favorite Band: Explosions in the Sky
i dont have a favorite genre. i can appreciate music from all over the map (musical and geographical). theres good music in all genres and theres crappy music in all genres. ive been on a beatles kick lately so id go with classic for the poll. that being said, you could have put the beatles in any of those categories and they would work. norwegian wood is folk, shes so heavy is metal and all of pauls sappy songs are emo.
Ahh. This is tough. I picked emo, but I could have picked a lot of other categories. My current playlist is varied in terms of genre (syd barrett, billy joel, brand new, taking back sunday, catch 22, billy talent, etc), so its a hard decision!
