Similar to the Rockets, they are rebuliding. Jamal Mosley, another Mavericks assistant coach, got hired as a head coach and replaced Silas' friend & mentor: Steve Clifford.

Issac and Fultz are out right now from surgery recovery.

    Mo Bamba
    Terrence Ross
    Wendell Carter
    Franz Wagner
    Jalen Suggs
    Cole Anthony
    Moritz Wagner
    RJ Hampton
    Robin Lopez
    Jonathan Issan
    M. Fultz.

    Last year:
    Magic Record: 21-51
    Rockets Record: 17-55.

    --
Like us they lost their season opener (loss to the Spurs by 26 pts).

If both teams end up with bad records, will we be better than Orlando? Can get Silas get more out of the youngster than his former peer: Jamal Mosley?

Both are bad but one team was down by 12 at halftime and the other team was down by 27 though, in Houston's defense, the Wolves have a couple of All-Stars on their team and Anthony Edwards. So to answer your question........."yes"?

It's hard to imagine us even winning one game this season

    November report card:

    Magic: (4-12 .250)
    Rockets: 1-14 (.067)

    There's still time, Silas. ;)

Rockets are one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen at the moment. Barring a dramatic improvement, I can’t imagine them being better than anyone this year.

The East got some superstars migrating from the West but it is still easier in my opinion.

    No brainer.

And it was a very close loss to them Brooklyn Hardens.

better or worst, there gonna be one precondition, which is about silli@ss:

Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double (lol just go)
So come on and let me know

Before I bumped the thread it was something like, since beginning of season.

    Rockets 5 votes
    Magic 4 votes

Now the votes have swung much the other way.

hardly could tell we gonna be better than orlando or not...what i know is two teams status quo for now (sorry w/o double check any single statistics @ApacheWarrior ):

definitely Magic is gonna have a better 2021-2022 season.
though i haven't paid much real attention to Magic, but with those 2-3 Magic games i watched this season (inc. the game in Barclays Benter, Brooklyn), i below are my thoughts:

    - Coaching
    Jamal Mosley > Stephen Silas.
based on what i can see, Jamal did a better job in comparison to Silli@ss. Jamal is bringing all their young'uns together pretty well - gel kids by allowing them fair amount of minutes, build up their confidence bit by bit... you guys can easily see that in their game against BKN, without KD, Harden brought the team on his back but literally escaped from Magic narrowly (113:115), Magic boys played pretty well, they showed excellent teamwork, no iso ball, no pushing shots, instead they passed the ball patiently, as i can see most of their offense went through 2-4 guys before finding the better guy to hit the shot.

    - PG position
    C Anthony > KPJ
even though Magic won't win a lot this season for sure, but hardly could ppl neglect anthony's contribution and his improvement in this season (in past 13 games), and dun't make a fuss if his name being mentioned as a nominee for MIP among others.

    - Other things
    J Suggs (20yr old) < J Green (19 yr old), once we brought in a right coach, we will find out how legit coach would get the most out of our Jalen, so i don't worry about him, even in such a tough situation, he has been making progress game after game (though kinda slow, but c'mon he is 19yr old);
    F Wagner, is Magic's 'Sengun', a real 'phenomenal', who has till now given Magic fans countless eye-opening moments;
    T Ross = Ego, (btw, i love T Ross's games) ross is Magics valuable trading asset as good as gordon to us;
    R Lopez = D Theis
side note: they still got issac (out, injury), fultz (out, injury) and harris, however what i feel pretty optimistic is, we have Tate, KJ, JayGup and Garuba, who silas does not know how to use or design plays for, they are bound to be our future.

Interesting, I meant record wise, because East does have an easier go at the schedule.

Either team could go on a hot winning streak, cannot be ruled out entirely.

If you want to talk who is better in terms of playing style, competitiveness, we have to look at the second half of the season obviously.

The Magic gave up on Vucevic too early as Rockets did with Olynyk. Not the same player type and player level of course but both important.

    agre, but pretty heartbroken

so, you are still sitting on the fence as to silli@ss coaching..amirite?
imho, as long as silli@ss still here, the second half will be much much predictable

As a fan I am always sitting on a fence.

It does not matter what I think because you have to be prepared for it meaning the coaching candidate has to be determined right now as we speak.

Feigen just said Tilman is not worried just yet, take it for what is worth.

Half our team (and 75% of our salary cap) is still guys who were supposed to be playing with James Harden.

Note that doesn't include Theis, who I'm pretty sure they forgot they didn't have Harden when he was signed

    Different roster construction, different timeline.

Orlando roster has some nice vets mixed in with the youth movement:

    Robin Lopez
    Gary Harris
    T Ross
    E'Twaun Moore
    Mortiz Wagner

Cole Anthony (2nd yr but averaged 19.6 pts per game last yr)
    Bamba
    Wendell Carter
    Suggs
    Frans Wagner
    Okeke
    RJ Hampton

Yeah Silas would look better right now with that crew.
He would take it in a heartbeat if it was about winning right now.
But if it's about long term success....Silas may see Jalen Green, Sengun, Garuba,
Josh Christopher, Kenyon, Tate as a very bright future a year from now and beyond.

I would say brighter than the Magic.
    ________________
This leads to the someone telling me that the Rockets are rebuilding just like
the Nuggets did. These Rockets didn't bring in a Millsap/Trey Lyles type....the Nuggets and
this Orlando team brought in vets with the intent to get into the playoffs and hopefully
beyond. Gary Harris and Terrence Ross can ball. Robin Lopez does his thing
protecting the rim and rebounding. Mortiz Wagner provides spacing as a deadeye
shooting big. All-in-All a decent blend.

Rockets have Eric Gordon and a 5'11" Augustin. Not quite equal parts per million.

    P.S. No individual stats needed
