Call'em like you see 'em, but don't use the N-word or the W-word or C-word or H-word and those other words, you know, be decent about being truthful.
A-Train The H-word? The C-word? The W-word? Honky Chink Wetback those aren't politcally correct are they? DOH, I said 'em!
I can't vote, the choices are too extreme. I think political correctness has its place in society, but I also think it can be taken too far and can be used to suppress free thinking and expression. So, all you h***s can c*** my w***.
Decency is decency and PC is, well, PC. I abhor PC but you won't catch me using or even thinking those ugly words that begin with "N" or "S" or "C".
Does honky really offend anybody these days? Every time I hear it I just think of Tom Willis on The Jeffersons. That cracker was married to Lenny Kravitz' mom.
wetback - illegal immigrant. Insenuationg that they swam across the Rio Grande to get to the US. The term is more offensive than the meaning. It all depends on who you are around. Most of the people who I hang around with really don't care what is said. Now if your at the workplace, then yes, you should use some respect.
I almost posted something similar to this. If someone was reallly pissed and was trying to offend me and called me a honky, I would laugh. I think it is a funny term. Where did it come from? I cant even think of a racial slur for white people besides honky and cracker? Much less one that is offensive? Maybe white trash or redneck or trailer trash. Can yall think of any?
I was stopped by the PC police one time and reprimanded for referring to my children as "kids--- because they are children not goats!" Is that really a matter of decency? Or is it just someone's ego and opinion gone over the top? I think those of you who are equating PC with "just plain decency" are being a bit simplistic.
Some people obviously have different definitions of "politically correct". Decency and PC have little to do with each other, in my opinion. If you think it means decency, perhaps you can give an example of something you think is or isn't "PC", and we can compare opinions. For instance, not using racial slurs to me isn't being PC, it's simply not being racist.
That's not being PC, that's being stupid. I think those who want to call everything like this PC are being overally broad.
Being PC is the support of eliminating language or actions that COULD be offensive to others. Eeeuuuyugh. I personally try to be considerate to people...but in no way would I ever stand for the elimination of language based on the fact that it COULD be offensive to others.
